"You literally could not go anywhere in Germany without running into forced labor camps, P.O.W. camps, concentration camps," he said. "They were everywhere."

And yet, 0bama's Amerika is far, far worse. People back then didn't know how good they had it.

I was just at an O'concentration camp. We were packed in like sardines! It was called the Wal-Mart Ghetto

America had concentration camps, too. It was the soup du jour of warfare to arrest citizens for the crime of ethnicity.

This indeed. We may have not executed or starved them to death, but we were supposed to be better than that.

I have always wondered how the original 5-6 million number was the result. To me that number felt a little low; I could have sworn it would have been 10 million because of the population size of Europe. Now they believe that 15-20 million were killed. Wow.

There's a bit of publication bias in this field. It ranges from bad career move to criminal offense to say that the Nazis were not as bad as they are supposed to have been. I blame the ***NO CARRIER***

Yeah, so much of our history is covered with roses, but the sad truth is that America has done some pretty heinous things.  They may pale in comparison with the injustices done by other nations, but we're by no means innocent.

Roughly 6.5 million Jews is the accepted number of those that were murdered by the Nazi regime. The higher number of 15-20 million inclusive of the other innocents that were killed at the hands and orders of the Nazis, including Gypsies, dissidents, etc...At the outset of the Holocaust, there was only about 15 million Jews in the world. Only until this last decade has the Jewish population recovered to pre-Holocaust numbers.

As for the American concentration/detainment/internment camps, while horrible in their own right, the systematic genocide of millions by the Nazis is incomparable to any other act by man in history.

Honest to God, Subby, I was expecting an article about cannibalism. Because knowing all the stuff the Nazis did, cannibalism would the only thing that could make it worse.

Canada also had them for the same reason. I recently learned this. How they've been able to keep this under wraps compared to America, I have no idea.

KrispyKritter: there were people of governments that killed far more but Hitler gets all the press. it's always Hitler, Hitler, Hitler.

Hitler gets press for the way he did it. Yeah, Stalin and Mao were bad people, and they starved MILLIONS through their five year plans and "reforms", shot a bunch of people, and sent others to work camps, but they didn't have the industrialized and cold mechanism of death that the Nazis invented for the systematic extermination of groups of people who were deemed "undesirables", and the sheer monstrosity of the pseudo-scientific "human experiments" that their doctors performed at the camps.

St. Snuff: systematic genocide of millions by the Nazis is incomparable to any other act by man in history.

I guess you arent terribly familiar with human history.  Genocide was always the order of the day... this is a very rare time in human history where genocide is frowned upon.  Its a downright anomaly, really.  You should read some eye witness accounts of the crusades some time... the nazi's were practically humane.
