He wasn't a badass--he was the perv super who took every opportunity to go into the apt to leer at two teenage girls. Oh, wait...

I could never stand her on that show, and never saw her on anything else, but pancreatic cancer needs to be farking cured NOW.  Whatever other cancers they are researching should have their funds cut in half and redirected towards pancreatic.

Or something.  I don't know.  It's just too much of a death sentence.  With other cancers, there is hope.  Who beats pancreatic?  No one.

It's too bad she died fairly young and all, but I never liked her as an actress.

I only watched because of Valerie B.

Okay, maybe not "no one."

Wikipedia lists at least 400 notable people who have died from pancreatic cancer.  How many notable survivors do they list?

Eight.

RIP Bonnie

On a side note.... ODAAT had one of the weakest TV openings ever for a pretty popular show....

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M82CUd6isyY

I mean, yes it was 1975, but, plenty of shows had some flair from then with their opening title frames (All in the Family, Maude, Happy Days, on and on).

One Day at a Time looked like it was the title frame for a bad 70s porn movie.

The American Cancer Society estimates that 37,680 people will be diagnosed with pancreas cancer and 34,290 people will die of the disease in 2008.The overall 5-year relative survival rate for patients reported to the Surveillance, Epidemiology, and End Results (SEER) database of the National Cancer Institute from 1996 to 2004 was 5.1%

One thing that has always bothered me.  What was that fuglyass wagon she drove in the opening?  It looked like someone left it in the desert for ten years and then revived it.

2013-03-01 02:59:13 PM
To me, she always gave off the vibe that while it may be very difficult to get into her bedroom, it would be even harder to get out.

2013-03-01 02:59:13 PM
If she really was 69, that means she was only 32 when she started "One Day At A Time." Awful young to be having a 17-yr-old & a 15-yr old. Might've been playing older, a la John Amos or Michael Learned.

Applause, Applause

/that being the name of the Broadway musical she was in and not my feelings regarding her death

True Fact: The very first orgasm I ever had in my whole life was after watching the first episode of ODAAT. I was 12 years old, and didn't even know how to do it properly... but where there's a will (and Valerie Bertinelli), there's a way.

/sorry if that's tmi
//but this is Fark, so... whatever

There is a serious curse surrounding that movie.  Patrick Swayze, Ben Gazarra, and Jeff Healey are all dead.  If I was Terry Funk, I'd get my ass to a doctor ASAP.

Wasn't that Alice?  It looked like it was covered in dust and the windshield washer fluid was long empty.
