That is not a good idea. But on heroin it is.

I was in college in the Grunge era, and even then I thought Stone Temple Pirates were overrated.

The band formally known as STP with a new lead singer, Wes Scantlin from Puddle of Mudd fame. Theyreplaced one drunk dilusional frontman with another. Wes sings all your favorites like Crackerman, Lounge Fly, and Trippin on a Hole in a Paper Heart. The band formally known as STP this Saturday at the Sheboygan Community Theater. Tickets available now.

STP fired Scott because he's a farking mess.

I doubt their intent was to promote Scott's upcoming tour... playing old STP songs with other musicians... after Scott's earlier complaints that STP played their old songs too often.

/loved the STP press release

Cool. Just on here when people hate the radio grunge bands that got success they always tout Mudhoney, Screaming Trees, or Sebadoh, man. I just figured wrong.

FTFA:  Which begs the question ... why is Scott so sure he's not out of the band?

Ugh

I thought he was the lead singer of Velvet Revolver.  I should keep up.

2013-03-01 11:03:56 AM
Now why would you use the firing of your lead singer as a way to boost sales?  I wouldn't buy a ticket after I heard Scott has been fired.  Especially since a majority of people couldn't name anyone else in the band except for Scott.

/Make a porno instead if you want the publicity

Just hire Vinny from Sponge already and be done with. I like Scott, but all his baggage wont fit in the tour bus.

I'm constantly amazed by bands like this who refuse to realize that the gravy train isn't going to last forever.

He was. And then I think he said something about wanting to tour with them again and Slash said hell no

Interesting he looks away as he states his only dabble in "bad stuff" is drinking.  I always liked STP's psychedelic pop stuff a bit more than their straight-out grunge rockers.  They get a lot of hate around here, but I still enjoy their music.
/close your eyes and he sounds like Michael J. Fox.

Screaming Trees were great.  Mark Lanegan's bluesy solo stuff is awesome also.

I'd second that.

On the other hand...  the exact moment that I knew Axl Rose was well and truly screwed up beyond all hope of repair?  It was the day that Scott farking Weiland became the go-to guy for a stable, reliable replacement vocalist to work with.  By Slash's standards.

Timeline breakdown:

Weiland was with STP until just too many drug and drinking arrests.  Odds are he was uninsurable to tour.  Band got fired of his drama and drugging and fired him.

he joined Velvet Revolver then >  until just too many drug and drinking arrests.  Odds are he was also uninsurable to tour.  Band got fired of his drama and drugging and fired him.

So he came back to STP >  until just too many drug and drinking arrests.  Odds are he was uninsurable to tour.  Band got fired of his drama and drugging and fired him.

rinse and repeat and rinse and repeat

Sorry for above typo - it was the ultimate Freudian slip.  Typed 'fired' and meant to say 'tired'.
