Scarrio: I have no idea what bug I caught two months ago, but it caused partial facial paralysis (ala Bells Palsy) that I am still getting over, and I know three other people who have had the exact same thing happen over the last few weeks; get the flu, and a day or two later, bam, nerve inflammation.  I feel fine now but the doctor says it could take months for my face to go back to normal.

Were you making faces at people? Because I've heard it can get stuck that way if you keep doing it.

Myria: The ultimate irony is that many people who are overly scared about superbugs don't believe in evolution...

Well thank God I don't live anywhere near it....

*Reads article*

USA Today reported that species of CRE have infected patients at the National Institute of Health Hospital outside Washington, D.C., killing a 16-year-old boy, as well as at the University of Virginia Hospital, where 7 patients died and thousands of other cases in dozens of hospitals and nursing homes in the U.S. over the last decade. Death rates among CRE-positive patients range from 40 to 50 percent.

I live just outside Washington D.C. in Virginia. I'm as doomed as doomed can be I must say.
