i was saying alllll last year that Datsyuk was the greatest rookie on the wings, but noooo.. everyone all zetterburg zetterburg, hes so good i would suck him off for free.

not that i don't love zetterburg, but i could see datsyuk was going to be the better player, the guy is just amazing.

i really hope they represent a future red wing core that will be around for a long time to come.

While everyone makes fun of the Wings, they're still consistently one of the best teams in the NHL. That little green monster rears its ugly head again, huh?

As for Vlady's jersey being retired, I don't think they have. However, I believe it was Hull who wore Vlady's number before coming to Detroit, and he changed his number out of respect for Vlady and what he meant to the team.

Re Fedorov - I'm glad he's gone. He had a history of mailing in performances when he was upset, which was most of the time. His daddy constantly criticized Scotty Bowman's decisions - yeah, like this jackass knows more than the best coach in the history of the NHL.

Re Hasek - Cujo's going to waste just so we can get one more year out of Hasek - he'll quit again after this season.

Pavel Datsyuk has more moves than a bottle of ex-lax. His abuse of Marty Turco back in November has to be a candidate for goal of the year at this point. (Too bad he tried to go to the same well against Kolzig a few weeks later on a penalty shot.)

My Red Wings loyalties aside, he should be an all-star. He's been very impressive, and should do nothing but get better.

Federov? I about died laughing a couple weeks back. Federov was talking about Anahiem's "loyalty" to him. I guess smuggling you out of Russia and bending over backwards for you for ten years isn't exactly being "loyal."

As an aside, have any of the other hockey fans noticed that when it comes contract time, *every* player from the former USSR turns into a complete and utter bastage? Every Russian player seems to want triple what he is worth, for twice the length of the contract they've been offered. They're like baseball players.

I wonder if it has somthing to do with coming from a culture that doesn't have as deep of a background in capitalism? (not trying to troll, just wondering aloud)
