(Geelong Advertiser)   Want to get out of a traffic camera ticket? Easy: when you get the ticket, tell the cops someone stole your car so you weren't driving, but amazingly you just found it. Stupid, right? Not in Australia where it worked 20 times in a row... but not 21   (geelongadvertiser.com.au) divider line 11

I got out of a red light ticket because my wife was driving and I'm the registered owner.

Read the laws!

Guy I knew in another life went through a speed trap on his motorcycle. Sped away and lost the cops. Parked his bike in a nearby town, and then called the cops an hour or so later. Told them he had been at the movies and when he came out his bike was gone.

The nice policemen eventually recovered his "stolen" bike.

I read the U.S. Constitution which makes me think photo enforcement can't be legal in the U.S.

"A retired sparkie successfully avoided paying thousands of dollars in traffic camera fines "

And then...

"He took into account Hili's age, lack of priors and plea of guilty, before convicting and fining him $2500 "

That'll learn him!

Lack of priors? 20 times over a decade and you consider lack of priors? He's a reoffending machine.

Glad I live in a state that ruled red light cameras are unconstitutional.

BTW they cause more accidents than they prevent and are only a revenue tool.

Within the past five years some companies started looking for the owner's spouse in the DMV database if the driver was the wrong sex. This was in Arizona or California; in both places at the time camera tickets belonged to the driver rather than the owner.
