I'm so sick of the incessant attacks on anything that doesn't follow the liberal narrative. Libertarians are the "in-between" party - they are socially liberal, and fiscally conservative.

Sorry if not everyone believes that their lives should be controlled by the government from cradle to grave.

cptjeff: Generally, people who call themselves libertarian are right wing shills who just don't want to call themselves republicans.

Generally people who say this are retards.

This is why people make fun of libertarians:

People like making fun of anyone who disagrees with them.  Its easier than rational thought.  Just like your funny strawman cartoon.

pjmedia.com

No hits for a group of braindead people that think people like Newt Gingrich are smart.

Honestly, Reason seems to float right around hard-line Libertarian. They'd have no issue with gays, lesbians, or even LGBTBBQWTF.

Yabut, they have a hard-on for voter-ID laws.  I summon the "No True Scotsman" fallacy and point out that Libertarians are not typically in the business of having the government add regulations to problems that have not been demonstrated (and are even against regulations of some problems that have).

When it comes to what you do with yourself or your own property, libertarians are hands-off.

When it comes to what you do to other people without their explicit consent, and voting results in doing things to other people without their explicit consent, then these things should be regulated.

OldManDownDRoad: Now, this was a older neighborhood filled with Victorian houses, BIG houses, often with four or five bedrooms. Unfortunately, not a lot of yuppie couples could afford those monstrosities, but the when the students moved out, families did indeed move in - BIG families, Hispanic families, with madre and papi and three or four kids, plus Tio Hector and Tante Juana and a couple cousins. Where once were parked VWs and Toyotas are now vans with ladder racks and pickups towing trailers filled with lawn mowers.

This. Some people are apparently unaware that this an old practice. Binghamton, NY, and other college towns around the country use this same type of law to prevent slumlords from turning larger single-family residences into what are essentially flophouses for large numbers of students, with the attendant noise and parking problems, not to mention fire code violations.

I've tried to make the same point you make, that it's a legitimate concern to address, but that the actual families are often much worse. Plus, the end result is often, as the story notes, openly classist: it can turn into a deliberate attempt to "ghettoize" people just because they're too poor to live there without roommates, not because they're actually making trouble.
If you want to deal with noise and parking problems, pass and enforce noise and parking ordinances. Yeah, I know it's "hard" to do your jobs, but it's a lot better than dreaming up some bullshiat proxy because you're too cheap to calibrate the sound meter and train code enforcement to use it, or actually send someone out in a timely manner when people complain.

Soooo... unrelated people can't live together to share rent payments?

I don't understand stupid people. Perhaps this is a good thing.
