What is more disturbing is that the FAA is using Obama's time machine and this is what they are doing with it.

2013-02-28 08:19:34 PM
Because, God forbid, anyone has a good time while flying.   After all, keeping everyone scared is essential to maintaining the bloated budgets of agencies like the FAA and TSA.

Thanks to sequestration strategic budget restrictions picked for political reasons, not where best to save cash.

Want another crazy FAA rule? No trash cans in the concourse can be out until the DC flight takes off.

Well, the budget hasn't been slashed yet, as Tymast intimated.

I guess I'm officially an old timer because that Harlem Shake looks so stupid.

Otherwise, I can't see how the dance put the flight in jeopardy.

Sorry Subby, Sequestration starts tomorrow.

Well...that's probably the best one of those videos, yet; if only because those guys got a bunch of strangers on a plane to go along with it.

Democrats get to decide exactly what is cut as well, and the cuts are extremely tiny. The Scarequestor is nothing but a campaign tool for more taxes.

Obama is threatening the press though, that is coming out. He is a bad man.

I maintain that we vote in all new folks to both houses in 2014. Don't care if repub or demo, just someone who can balance a farking budget.  (that is not the president's job btw)

And don't forget that even after the sequestration, that none of the budgets will have been slashed.  Every single one of them will increase but just not as much.  It's a reduction in the increase.  Only in DC can an increase be called a cut.  Well, and in Albany, and Sacramento, and in any other place that powerticians congregate.

1) They gotta worry about shifting loads. Airplanes don't react well to shifting loads: "Sudden shifts in the CG [center of gravity] can be catastrophic. For example, if an airplane experiences turbulence during flight and a large cargo load shifts, the pilot may have trouble reacting quickly enough to the change in the airplane's center of gravity to maintain stability of the airplane." -- http://quest.nasa.gov/aero/planetary/atmospheric/s+c.html

2) The one Harlem Shake video to rule them all.

I work in an office primarily occupied by DoD civilian employees.  That is, out of about 100 in the building, more than half are civilians.  A few are really good guys and deserve all that they get--I would say 20% do about 75% of the productive work.  Of the rest, half keep their noses down and do only and exactly what they're supposed to, and the other half are whiny little shiats.  They are more concerned about how the sequester is going to impact their flex work schedule, how it will affect their pensions, and whether they'll still get their paid holidays, than whether or not the mission will get accomplished or how it will affect readiness or their military customers.

I say fire them all (the 40% who suck) but I can't figure out a way that would get that done that wouldn't run afoul of some AFGE rules, or get it dragged out so long that they'll be retired before it gets settled.

Boehner was right about one thing.  A large portion of government employees are overpaid, smug, selfish asshats.

Actually, the president by law is supposed to submit a budget. And of course, by a certain date. Guess how many he has submitted on time?

And, the House of Representatives has passed budgets every year since the GOP have taken over. They have done their job.

If you remember school house rock, you know that some other body has to also pass their own version so these two can be reconciled. That body is called the Senate and is controlled by the Democratic Party. They have not passed any budgets in 1,000 days, and they have also voted down Obama's budgets 99-0 for two years in a row.

Their job is to pass a budget that the Senate will pass and the President will sign. Have they done that? No?

Then no, they haven't done their job.

Cobataiwan: and they have also voted down Obama's budgets 99-0 for two years in a row.

Thanks to poison-pill amendments inserted by Republicans. Oh, I'm sorry, did you not want that to be mentioned?

They're supposed to pass a bill, then send it to a reconciliation committee between the House and Senate.  That's the normal procedure.

As someone who just last week orchestrated a "Harlem Shake" video at my jorb, I'm really getting a kick out of this thread. I don't give two shiats that it already jumped the shark. I hadn't laughed that much in weeks!

Why am I not surprised that none of the million or so left-wing nutjobs who spend 23 hours a day perusing this site have no comment on this?

The only problem I had with the video was everyone jumping around. Planes in the air are pretty delicately balanced.

Uh, the Senate never passed ANYTHING.  There's nothing to even try to reconcile with.
