Foret says Brown apparently was pregnant at one point, but lost the baby months ago.

"She was pregnant, but she miscarried the baby and didn't want to tell her family," said Foret. "So she continued to tell them that she was pregnant and picked today as the potential due date and I guess made up the rest of the story to try and cover up the fact that she actually wasn't pregnant."

Detectives arrested the woman on a charge of criminal mischief for filing a false complaint.

Yeah, but did they already hang the black guy?

Elizabeth Jones has ben jailed for 16 months after falsely claiming she had been raped 11 times in nine years by Southampton Crown Court. Main Picture: Wikipedia Source: news.com.au

FTFA: "She was later arrested and accepted she had lied about being raped - she said she did it because she did not like him," Ms Rickman said.
Detective Constable Tim Blanche said Ms Jones had made "intimate contact" with the unnamed male victim, but "they didn't live together".
The 22-year-old, who has made 10 other false rape allegations, urged an unidentified friend to report the assault to police. She later attended the local police station where she repeated the false allegations and underwent a full medical examination.
Police then arrested and questioned the man who denied the assault.

"The man was arrested and he gave a statement - he had to live his life with people accusing him of being a rapist," DC Blanche told The Daily Mail.

Very true, since there is no "in between" to leaving false accusations unpunished, and charging them with the exact same crime they accused someone of.

And although no one was even charged with a crime in this case before she fessed up, we should treat it exactly the same as if she sent someone to prison for 25 years and didn't recant the entire time. Good point.

It's called "Filing a false police report". Depending on the severity of the charge you accuse someone of, at least in Tennessee, it's a felony conviction.

The problem is that police departments and DAs are hesitant to pursue false rape reporting convictions for fear of scaring victims from reporting to them, and for the negative press of attacking a rape victim. There's also no way to definitively prove the charge unless the woman out and out admits she's lying about the rape, and even then, there are other factors at play which could cause her to say that.

So, in short, it's complex. Far so than both the Misandrists and Mens Rights shiatheads like to portray it as.

I'll agree that filing a false report should be a bigger deal, but I think the punishment should fit the crime, not the description of the uncommitted crime. It could be construed as cruel and unusual punishment.

BronyMedic: So, in short, it's complex. Far so than both the Misandrists and Mens Rights shiatheads like to portray it as.

I agree that it's a complex issue, but there's a subtle difference between "I was drunk, maybe I did say yes" and "she admitted that she lied about everything because she was angry, but we're going to block every attempt to release the rapist until the governor forces us to stop".

Obviously the first case shouldn't be punished, but that's no reason to let the second one walk free without even a trial, nor a reason to block someone's release even after the accuser admits that their original accusation was malicious.

yet another reason why prosecutors and the cops -- and the media -- should be held liable when an innocent person is jailed. she's 'lucky' she was given life instead of the death penalty; if she'd lived in Texas, the State would have probably ruled that even though she was right all along it's more important fpr the State to have its conviction record than for justice to win the day.

FTFWiki: "The final resolution of the case was triggered by a chance discovery. In early 1986, English tourist David Brett fell to his death from Uluru during an evening climb. Because of the vast size of the rock and the scrubby nature of the surrounding terrain, it was eight days before Brett's remains were discovered, lying below the bluff where he had lost his footing and in an area full of dingo lairs. As police searched the area, looking for missing bones that might have been carried off by dingoes, they discovered a small item of clothing. It was quickly identified as the crucial missing piece of evidence from the Chamberlain case-Azaria's missing matinee jacket."

Wow. I don't even know what to say, that it took another man's death....

Damn straight.

Yes, it should be treated exactly like that.  Why are you on the side of the woman who not only lied, but potentially could have led to a Charles Stuart situation in her area?  Remember him? Dude lied that a black man had killed his wife, and the cops had not only 'found' the guy but Charles was willing to point him out in a lineup and continue the lies even if it meant an innocent man was going to hang.  If it hadn't been for the brother-in-law saying 'you've gotta be fking kidding'.....

Fk these hoes.  If you lie about a rape allegation or sexual assault, treat it as a Class A Felony, jail the biatches and take away their right to vote and to own a gun.  Lesser crimes get treated worse.

Shrug.  Instead of using the Austrailian version of events, with all misspellings and grammar issues in the caption intact (if you go to the site, you'll see that I just directly ripped the caption) .. we'll use the popular Daily Fail for another version of events:

Compulsive liar who cried rape 11 times is jailed: Her last victim was an innocent man who she simply 'didn't like any more'

FTFDailyFail: "Compulsive liar Elizabeth Jones, 22, was exposed when CCTV footage disproved her allegation against a man she 'did not like any more'.
She had made her first false rape claim in 2004 when she was just 13, Southampton Crown Court heard.
Between 2005 and 2007 she made another eight allegations which police investigated and dismissed, although she was not prosecuted.
In 2009 she was sentenced to a ten-month detention and training order for a similar offence.
Jones's latest victim was a boyfriend against whom she made the allegation after the pair had an argument."

2013-03-01 06:01:50 AM
Reader comment from the Daily Fail article above on Elizabeth Jones' arrest for her eleventh false rape accusation against a consensual partner:  "A 2009 Canadian study found that 80% of rape allegations were faked by women afraid of the consequences of consensual sexual relations. If we want to move on as a people, we need to stop treating certain crimes emotionally a'nd instead implement reasonable procedures. Or not even reasonable procedures, just treat them all the same."

- maomeow
, Lede, 27/2/2013 15:47

I couldn't find the specific Canadian report, but the wiki under false allegations has other reports (including criticisms made against those reports where the numbers were higher than zero).

For everyone else, a handy guide on How To Avoid A False Rape Claim -- why women do it, and how to avoid situations placing you in contact with women who do it.  Good luck with that (men are notoriously idiots when wanting to be led around by their dick), but it's here for those who don't mind a little wisdom.

It's not too hard, though, to argue that the seriousness of a false report depends in a very large part on the crime being alleged. Falsely accusing someone of shoplifting is much less serious as, for example, falsely accusing someone of murder or rape.
