Speaking of snakes, this article just yells "South Carolina" to me.  My favorite line is: "Clark grabbed his dog and his garter snake and ran outside. "

http://nl.newsbank.com/nl-search/we/Archives?p_action=doc&p_theme=cp cb &p_topdoc=1&p_docnum=1&p_sort=YMD_date:D&p_docid=124CFE2639D469B0&p_te xt_direct-0=document_id=(%20124CFE2639D469B0%20)&p_product=CPCB

I can understand getting the dog when the house is on fire.  But the pet garter snake?  Really?

syzygy whizz: mmm....rhubarb (yum!)
Me likes stewed rhubarb, and rhubarb pie (preferably without strawberries*...I'm weird that way).
If any of yas are of the wine-making persuasion, rhubarb makes excellent wine.
You'll get a clearer end result if you freeze it first before fermenting. Don't know why, but it helps.
Think I may need to commit rhubarb wine again this year....

I LOVE rhubarb.  I have to get it frozen...it tends to not be a southern vegetable (yup, vegetable).

I have  recipe that has a cookie crust and the rhubarb (raw) is in a custard that is baked.  YUM!!!  (not on my diet at the moment but I do love the stuff).  My mom always made the recipe...I found one online that was close.  I have Mom's cookbooks now and have the real recipe.

am jealous of fresh rhubarb......

So I haz a sad tonight.

About 18 months ago, on Thanksgiving, someone abandoned an older kitty (our best estimates were at least 15 yo at the time) by the dumpster. It was amazing he was even found since it was a holiday and only the morning cleaning crew shows up. We called him Bernie and he became one of the "unofficial" mascots. Last night after I left the clinic after spay/neuter Sunday, he collapsed and had to be put to sleep. I didn't realize it until I went in tonight. He and another one get that whiskas chicken shreds on a regular basis and he wasn't there to get it tonight. Every time I went in that room for something and saw his bed, I wanted to start crying.

To the jerks who left him like trash - go screw yourselves.
While I hated he spent the last 18 months of his life in the rescue, he got lots of loves and scritches, and I'm happy knowing they were a great 18 months for him

RIP Bernie :(

When I was 13 or 14, my mom took my kid brother, my older sister, and myself on a cross-country camping trip out to the Rockies, Yellowstone, Utah, Grand Canyon, etc. Beautiful, beautiful country. Going back again before I die.

We went across the bridge at Royal Gorge in Colorado.
It's a narrow, suspension bridge, and the river is almost 1000 feet down below.
My brother looked over the edge, saw how far it was down to the bottom, and commented
that if you were to fall over the edge, "Dang! It's so far down, it would kill you continuously".

As young as we were, if our lives were to flash before our eyes, there would be a lot of time leftover before we hit.

domari: sherpa18: I used the same exact HTML that Flickr gives, which is what I've been using since I've been on Fark. When I tried using the image button and the URL last week all I saw was a broken image.

And that is more than likely your problem ... again, the Flicker url/link is providing more HTML encoding than the "new" Fark needs - as long as your link starts with JUST http:// and ends with .jpg , (delete anything else) all you have to do is paste it into the comment box (with or even without using the image button) and it should preview/post (which is how I got your pic to post from your Flicker account)... Drop me an email if I can be of any further assistance.
