So why won't my photos show up anymore?? I couldn't get them to post last week either.

Fark is changing the way you post, if you click on the Use HTML Buttons (above to the right), that will bring up the old way. I haven't had much luck using Flickr with the link picture button (just left of the ?) and am thinking of joining the mass migration to smugmug.

When I tried that it turned everything into HTML and the photo still wouldn't show in the preview.

You may have a bit too much info coming from the flicker link that is conflicting with Fark's formatting. Using the new buttons, I pressed the image button and pasted in just the bolded portion above and it worked just fine for me. Assuming that this IS the pic you meant to post  :o)

I have a huge fear of snakes after being attacked by a 6 foot python when I was 11.  Took three grown men to pull the thing off of me and it was very close to wrapping around my neck.  Since then, I can't even see them on TV without getting squeamish and leaving the room or changing the channel.

When I was a kid, the popular notion was that spotted bugs were female and unspotted were male.
There was one type, almost perfectly round, blood-red that I kept trying to catch and 'breed'.

Musta been doing something right, because I frequently found eggs on the lid of the jar right next to the air holes punched in the lid...but that's as far as I ever got with my breeding program.

That's too bad! I was surprised how many kids were afraid of the snake. I did tell them about how they feel etc. Maybe next time I sub someone will touch a snake.

BBBB sounds like a bit of PTS. Definitely a trauma when you are any age, let alone 11! Yeep. I told the kids who were afraid that it was ok, I don't really like spiders either. In fact I think I would wig out if I had to hold a tarantula. Nope, don't think I could do it. Not even after several glasses of vino. *shudder*. I think it's because they are so fast, and when you see them they are skittering off to a safer place. I feel the same way about our millipedes that used to live in the basement. Gah! They wig me out, durn animated eyebrows..

I really think the fear of snakes could be genetic.  There are so many places in the world where you would never touch a snake.  I was lucky in that department because neither of my parents were bothered at all by snakes.  I caught my first one when I was in 6th grade, but I only touched it because I knew it was a garter snake.  I had read several books in the library about identifying snakes by that time.  When the garter snake escaped from his terrarium, my next door neighbor wouldn't come out of her house until I had found it (2 weeks later!)  Actually my sister found it when she was sitting in the bathroom.  It came up out of the fuzzy pink carpet and she flew out of there while pulling up her drawers yelling "I found your snake, I found your snake"!  She was in 4th grade at the time.  I decided I didn't need to keep him so I let him go in a field near-by.

I have had it set for this...

I post from flickr with only minor hassle:

1) Open flickr photostream
2) Select pic
3) Click magifying glass to open fullsize
4) Click 'view all sizes' upper right
5) Select size to meet Fark constraints
6) Right click and 'Copy image URL'
7) Click 'Image' button in post and paste

Sounds complicated, but if Flicker is already open, it takes about 10 - 15 seconds.

mmm....rhubarb (yum!)
Me likes stewed rhubarb, and rhubarb pie (preferably without strawberries*...I'm weird that way).
If any of yas are of the wine-making persuasion, rhubarb makes excellent wine.
You'll get a clearer end result if you freeze it first before fermenting. Don't know why, but it helps.
Think I may need to commit rhubarb wine again this year....

Riktor and Wimsey behaved beautifully at the vet...as usual. I am SO PROUD of my boys.
Wimsey went so far as to make himself at home...got behind the Sainted Vet, wound around her ankles doing the tail-pet and tried to trip her up (this is one of his 'tricks'...following from the front).
Told Sainted Vet that "...if he's trying to trip you like that, he likes you." She's had enough experience with cats to understand this. The Wimsicle-boy is OK...could stand to lose a pound (14.2, but he really is big cat with big bones), but otherwise alright.

Riktor proved to be a hurtin' unit all over however... :-(
Don't know if it's his age (eleven in June) or the fact that there's still that nasty-ass tomcat in the neighborhood and Riktor never backs down from a fight...or a combination of both.
Outcome is that my Riktor Pye will be seeing either a pet chiropractor or osteopath for his aches and pains. Think once he gets over the stress of traveling he will actually enjoy the experience...
and they're smart enough to put 'pill/treatment/visit to the vet' with 'I feel better' after a time or two.

I am SO GRATEFUL that I have this job (even though it sometimes causes me to bang me head against the wall) so that I can afford to take care of my cats properly. If they hurt or are ill I am in a position to do something about it now.

* Nothing against strawberries...I LIKE them...just like them best when fresh and not turned into anything...except maybe wine.
Strawberry wine can be delicious...
