tigerose: Happenstance

I went to buy cat food.
A flat of cans,
In the form my cat likes.

And there,
I found two shelter cats.
Depressed.

No longer looking to interact.
Ignoring their toys.
Sad.

Their sorrow
Radiates.

They no longer believe,
No hope.

They are not kittens.
They are so handsome,

It makes me weep.

I want to put on their cages a sign,
"Take me home,
I am for you!"

One surrendered  cat speaks.
I am older, wiser,
I know what comfort a lap holds.

I know how to make you laugh,
Lift your spirits.

My fur is thick.
I can hold your tears.

I want to be with you.
No other will do.
Take a chance,
Take me home.

Into your heart.
There I will dwell.
All the days of my life.

And at the end of my days,
I will keep you in my heart,
Cherish you in my soul,
And rejoice.

tigerose 3/1/13

Awww....nice one, Tigerose!!

All shelters should print that out and tape it to the cages of adoptable cats.
So many wonderful furry old souls out there just waiting for loving people to take them home and be their bffs.

Feel free to repro and share.

May do just that.... Knew there would eventually be a reason to justify the cost of buying new printer cartridges.

[i870.photobucket.com image 465x409]

Yeah, teh ink is insanely expensive, but if you print and distribute? One adoption would be worth it! Two, fabulous..Three, I might just explode! :)

I think I will print this and put it on the cage. I wonder if anyone in my neighborhood knows the poet laureate of Caturday?

sherpa18: borg: Elderly subby? where in the story does it say he was "Elderly"? he looks to be about 62 that not "Elderly"

Alvin K. Nersessian was born on February 13, 1937 and passed away on Friday, November 23, 2012.  Which made him 75 - I think that qualifies for describing him as "elderly".

[i415.photobucket.com image 307x400]

No, 75 is not always "elderly". I was born before him and do not consider myself to be "elderly". Of course you young-uns may have a different opinion. :- )

The Ice Queen: So spoke with the vet tonight, apparently Rocky is QUITE hyperthyroid. Going to pick up a weeks worth of meds and then she'll get an exam to see how she's doing before we start fiddling too much with the dose...

Don't worry, the meds take effect very quickly. BTW, I forgot to mention that if you should decide to use the trans-dermal gel, you must wear (powder-free) latex gloves when applying it. If you start with the pills, remember to wash your hands after handling them. Good luck, and ...

After we were finished we took all the leftovers to the Soldiers and Sailors Home, they were given about 20 boxes of books (hardback not paperbacks). The guys were really happy to get them. I still donate my books when I go thru my shelves.

Thanks for a great idea! In my neck of the woods, it seems that nobody wants used books anymore - and it breaks my heart to think that they might end up in the trash :o(

spinach gunk: maynerdkitty: I did not think it wise to be caught in the cab of a small s-10 with a feral kitty and playful dog.

What a pretty little critter.  I hope someone managed to snatch her up and give her a home, or at least get her somewhere safe where there are fewer cars and fewer playful hungry pooches.

Thanks for the caption!

Fiona is getting real good at riding in the truck but she whines when she smells the hamburgers at the drive up. She has learned not to eat too fast as sometimes they are hot. I put her cup of ice water in the cup holder and she lays on the seat and rides with her lower jaw in the cup and licks the ice as we ride. Silly girl. She wanted me to run down some squirrels she saw running across the road. Gave me a dirty look when I didn't drive in someones yard and let her out. I think she is getting lazy.

Fang Q again so mulch tigerose!  I too wanted to weep.  Print & distrib would be worth it, mayhap I can if Plumbicon will take me somewhere to give copies to.  Cat-loving paramedic in chorus supervised by at least 2 cats would like a copy or 5 as well, which I can do for herAll copies with the due credit! She's the one who takes printer cartridges, old cell phones & their kin to recycle. Chorus gets $$ for them.

Heheh.  Don't you hate it when you've gotten to the point that when you read something that doesn't compute, you automatically assume that there's something wrong with your eyes and/or your brain and not with what you're reading?

Happens more and more to me the older I get.  I'm sure in 10 or 15 years my perception of reality will not correlate whatsoever to anything in the real world.

But yeah I like Smugmug.  Still trying to understand the parameters of their search function but otherwise it's very pleasant to use.  My Photofrkkit subscription runs out in April, and since they're not fixing any of the things I and many others have been pleading with them to fix, and their customer service now appears to be staffed by brain-damaged monkeys, I will very likely tell them to go fly a kite.  Sometimes I wish I could throw feces over the internet.
