Glad it is Caturday.....I need it.  Was a kick ass week....something was due the client, was promised on 2/28, was delivered on 2/28....I received 'good job' from coworker who said 'it succeeded because of you'.  I'll take that

Good to be home with the kids.  I know i am in Tampa and is warm here...but we are to have a high in the 50's tomorrow and Sunday.  For us, that is chilly

So spoke with the vet tonight, apparently Rocky is QUITE hyperthyroid. Going to pick up a weeks worth of meds and then she'll get an exam to see how she's doing before we start fiddling too much with the dose. I'll have to get a copy of the results so I can keep down here in case she has problems during the week and go to the vet here.

She's probably about 1/3 or so the size now. She might actually be able to fit in the box if I still knew where it was 3 years later :p

Bob the cat took tapazole for a good 4 years before he passed away.......you can do it!!!!

Bob the cat is how I learned to pill a cat.  Now I feel like a pro.

Bob was my Dad's cat...I adopted Bob when my parents moved to an Alzheimer's home.  I adopted their dog Wraggs too

Above is a shot of Bob with my Dad.  Dad has been gone since December 2007...Bob departed June 2009.  I miss them both.

Alvin K. Nersessian was born on February 13, 1937 and passed away on Friday, November 23, 2012.  Which made him 75 - I think that qualifies for describing him as "elderly".

When my Dad passed away my sister and I went thru his book collection and I was quite surprised to find about 2 cases of them were mine to begin with. After we were finished we took all the leftovers to the Soldiers and Sailors Home, they were given about 20 boxes of books (hardback not paperbacks). The guys were really happy to get them. I still donate my books when I go thru my shelves.

Temp threadsend once more, after spending/wasting time Editing.
CrankiAndi, you may need soundings made on your property to ensure the absence of sinkholes like the one the bedroom somewhere in Tampa fell into. Plumbicon says "they's likely alligators at the bottom of them sinkholes" --
Very sad tale on evening news. B**** of less than legal age let her pit bull Bruiser starve, twice. 2d time to death. There was vid; poor dog was so emaciated & weak he needed to be euthanised. She was cited 1st time but let go & given the poor dog back to complete his torment. This is in next county north; believe she's been cited again.  Should be more than cited; should be jailed.

Happenstance

I went to buy cat food.
A flat of cans,
In the form my cat likes.

And there,
I found two shelter cats.
Depressed.

No longer looking to interact.
Ignoring their toys.
Sad.

Their sorrow
Radiates.

They no longer believe,
No hope.

They are not kittens.
They are so handsome,

It makes me weep.

I want to put on their cages a sign,
"Take me home,
I am for you!"

One surrendered  cat speaks.
I am older, wiser,
I know what comfort a lap holds.

I know how to make you laugh,
Lift your spirits.

My fur is thick.
I can hold your tears.

I want to be with you.
No other will do.
Take a chance,
Take me home.

Into your heart.
There I will dwell.
All the days of my life.

And at the end of my days,
I will keep you in my heart,
Cherish you in my soul,
And rejoice.

All shelters should print that out and tape it to the cages of adoptable cats.
So many wonderful furry old souls out there just waiting for loving people to take them home and be their bffs.

Oh, man, this got me weepy. I volunteer for a local shelter up at the nearby Petsmart, and the older cats that obviously had homes at one time are the saddest. And they tend to stay the longest. *excuse me while I go find a tissue*

..and a chuckle, to lighten my heart again...

I'm sure she would be thrilled with an equivalent substitute box!  :)

Hopefully the right dose of thyroid meds will prevent her from shrinking any further and get her healthy again.  She looks like a nice gal.  Please send her a gentle chin scritch from me.

This is probably all wrong, but I've found that letting them ride loose reduces their stress level...going by the amount of protesting.
They've ridden often enough that they usually will just park themselves in the back window and enjoy the scenery.
Sometimes it even takes a bit of coaxing to get them out of the car when we get home*...they're quite comfortable where they are, thank you.

* they only get to ride free on the homebound journey...otherwise they DO have to put up with the carrier.

If I only have Gremie in the car he rides in the crate to wherever we are going and then he gets to drive home. He sits in my lap with paws on the steering wheel. I know that is a big no,no, but believe it or not he doesn't get in the way and he is quiet and content.
If Jack is in the car with us poor Gremie rides in the crate both ways otherwise it would be an accident definitely waiting to happen

I was on my way in last night from the farm, I stopped at the Jack in the Box to grab a quick meal and I saw this little fluffy one in the drive through.

[farm9.staticflickr.com image 500x282]
It ran behind my truck and to the curb to escape the black and white bull dog that was tracking it. I rolled my window down and called to her but she did not respond, she was focused on the dog across the parking lot. The line moved and I had to pull forward but I saw the car behind me open their doors to try to get her in their car.I would have just opened the door and scooped her in but, I don't have health insurance right now and I had this in the truck with me waiting for her kids meal:
[farm9.staticflickr.com image 500x282]
I did not think it wise to be caught in the cab of a small s-10 with a feral kitty and playful dog.

Can't say as I blame you. Hope someone helped out the poor little thing, though.

Yeah, teh ink is insanely expensive, but if you print and distribute? One adoption would be worth it! Two, fabulous..Three, I might just explode! :)

I think I will print this and put it on the cage. I wonder if anyone in my neighborhood knows the poet laureate of Caturday?
