Neat.. liked all the animals together( no spiders) also.. being old-school, wouldn't that be " Howdy Doody"?

Hoomin spelling, yes. Cat spelling, not so much. :-D

Ah... works for me .. and given how some words have been 'repurposed', probably for the best....
Glad the move went well.. bought this house in '89.. first house... had a BASEMENT !!  I was a 'mechanical stuff' type packrat.. hated to throw away things that could be used.. there are many households here that had their heat/ ac systems 'resurrected' via 'Tim's Basement'.. and I am deep into 'unpacking' now.. loaded a 14' Uhaul truck 'to the rafters' with used electronics stuff.. took it to a recycling company nearby.. they found some stuff they needed in the load.. no charge !.. It was my goal to never move again.. good neighborhood and neighbors.. no crime.. had some drug houses here when I moved in.. they were gone within two weeks.. pays to have friends in law enforcement.. big friends... hope you found a good place...

This is going to sound very weird...but I've discovered if the I call the name of what I'm looking for (e.g., "Keys...where are you?") it often speeds up the finding. I use this trick frequently in the parking lot...my car is too old a model to have a keypad-activated honk-and-flash.

Will compliment predle on either making or finding the tiger carved from a watermelon.
That Caturday Welcoming Cmte patch showed up when I was still a mewbie here. Rt click, & it surfaced once more lately, so I put it up again a week or 3 ago.

Bathia_Mapes: John Buck 41: Bathia_Mapes: lilyspad: Bathia_Mapes...how did the move go? All settled in?

All moved in, but I'm still unpacking and shelving books. Got roughly six boxes to go and I hope I don't run out of shelves before then.

I must've missed your post last week about moving. Always stressful. Hope it went well.

It did, thank you. Managed to get moved in one day too, but the couch and chairs we bought were taken over a few days before, which made things easier. Spent the Wednesday before moving day at the new place awaiting delivery of our new beds and after they were set up, I made them so that would be one less thing to do on Saturday. Some friends of helped us move & managed to get everything in one trip too. Jeep + trailer & a full-size van, all packed to the gills made that possible.

When I was...(doing the math)...22, I moved...(more math)...4 times in...(math again)...12 months. And during that stretch I got married to Mrs. Buck #1. Can you say hell?

Mrs. Buck #2 and I have accumulated a few things over the last 33+ years. The idea of moving again (not that we're going to) absofarkinlutely terrifies me.

Bathia_Mapes: akimbotoo: I hope you enjoy your new place!

Oh, trust me, I am enjoying it. In unit washer/dryer, so no more trips to the laundry room, granite countertops, large kitchen (well, large for an apartment), quiet and well-managed too.

Great!

We were in our previous apartment for close to 10 years. It's amazing how much stuff you can accumulate. I had to be hard on myself and go through all my books (and trust me, there were a lot of books to go through, over a 1,000) and weed out any duplicates or books I hadn't read in years. I sincerely hope that we won't move again.

I've been here since December '80. We moved in the day before John Lennon was shot. The current Mrs. Buck has been here for 8 years, but to be fair, most of the shi...uh, i mean stuff was here before she arrived.

Moving is something I do not handle well.
My mother has lived here since 1961, and is the very embodiment of how possessions eventually become "stuff".
Stuff she'll never wear again. Stuff she'll never read again. Stuff she doesn't know what she even kept.

Speaking of homes...
The other day, I discovered that the sewer line out to the municipal sewer trunk is blocked.
I suspect a magnolia tree that mom planed right over the sewer 20 years ago is the culprit.

We finally got a guy out to rooter the line today, and he had no effect.
So they're sending out a guy tomorrow with a camera they can snake in to see what is causing the blockage.
(I don't know how many megapickles it has)
I can always pee in the bushes out back.
Unfortunately I have to hop in the car and try to find a public restroom for #2.

There is a major hospital about 1.5 miles from the house, so with enough lead time, I can head there.
The restrooms are clean, and they're available 24 hours. It's not perfect, but it has to do for now.

Well, as the as the tuxedo cat earlier said..."Ruffle my whiskers and fluff mai tail!"
I learned something today.
The hard way. Which, of course, makes it stick so you don't have to learn it again.

You know those metal things they have in the bathroom stalls that dispense those tissue paper hats?
The ones that are kind of a cross between a sombrero and a Daniel Boone hat with the tail in the back?

I learned this evening that those are, in fact, not hats
!!!

When I came walking out of the restroom wearing one and folding a couple to take home with me
to give to the neighbor's kids, one of the housekeeping ladies tore into me.

"What de hell you doin' there??", she shouted at me.
I figured I was in trouble for taking extras...
"Just taking a couple of these hats with me to give to the neighbor kids. I'll pay for them if that's necessary."
She chewed me up one side and down the other and said if she saw me there again, she'd call security.

A guy has to poop occasionally, so I guess I'll need to find me some other place to "take care of business"
until we get this sewer fiasco rectified. Ergo, no hushpuppies for QJ for the foreseeable future.

I had the same problem at my office about 5 or 6 years ago.  My office is in a house that was built in 1920 or so.  Well........the guy from the city came out with his camera toy when the regular rooter guy couldn't clear the line to the sewer.  We ended up calling a better rooter guy he recommended with a more powerful pressurized cleaner-outer.  I don't think I will ever be able to get that picture out of my head.  I have never seen a 6" diameter and 2' long "log" that extruded out of the pipe before the pressurized water flushed everything out.  Damn!

Did they have the paper hats, too?
Nothing like adding some confusion to the inconvenience!

Got ambitious and made my kittehs a box like that...figured I could build it cheaper than buying.
Set the finished product in front of Riktor. He studied it for a moment, then stuck his elegant little black paw into one of the holes and fished out the fluffy ball with great precision.
Then he gives me this look- "Alright...now what?"
He was not as entertained by the process as I'd hoped...

Told him I still wasn't going to buy him an X-box however...

"Elderly" means "like an elder" so as long as he seemed older than the person who wrote the article, the term is appropriate.
