What? He was friggin standing his ground! What good does it do to actually have good gun laws in Florida, and not use them when a citizen-hero seeks to protect the rest of us?

Another responsible gun owner stands up for his rights!

Meanwhile, on Planet Bootstrappy:

Awesome shot, Jose!  You blew that guy's brains out with one shot!...over $200 in meat...from the wealthiest multinational chain...so instead of getting charged with a minor misdemeanor, he's dead.  You sure showed him!  Maybe Walmart will make everything a Blue Light Special for you!

FTFA:

"His life was not in immediate danger so he was not in fear for his life nor was he trying to defend someone else whose life is being threatened," Sampsell said. "There was no justification for the shooting."

What the hell is happening to this country.  A man can't shoot at a stranger in a crowded parking lot for no reason?  Thanks a lot, Obama.

Martinez said he didn't know why McKee was being chased but he joined in.

Look, when you see someone being chased you don't stop to ask a bunch of silly questions or consider the consequences.

Damn, I sure feel much safer with people like this around!

Um, that'd be a no.  Saw that on the news last night and when they said he was facing felony charges, I said "good".

Of course, I'm one of the traitorous pro-gunners who doesn't have a problem with more extensive background checks and licensing.  I would also love a written test to be added to the concealed handgun course that had questions similar to this situation.  "Is Jose justified in firing off rounds into Eddie's car as he flees?"  If you don't pass the farking test, you don't get the license.

I have it on good FARK authority that, for believing in any form of licensing, we're not just traitors but also idiots.  If only we had examples of too many idiots or maniacs acting dangerously with guns, instead of nothing but a gigantic, disorganized mess of isolated incidents.

Idk about Florida law, but SC confiscates cars used in shoplifting cases, so he got lucky they didn't charge him with damaging police property.  I am glad MI makes classes for a CCW permit mandatory.

Question 2: You see a man in a parking lot shooting at a car traveling away from him. Do you:

A) draw your weapon and fire at the car?
B) draw your weapon and fire at the shooter?
C) draw your weapon and ask the shooter why he's firing at the car?
D) start to wonder why either of you is carrying a gun?

Hmmm...a man with a Hispanic name pulls a gun in a crowded shopping plaza.

I'd say he's pretty lucky no cops were around.

How the hell did this dumbshiat receive a CCW permit? Does Florida just give them to anyone that asks for one? What the hell is wrong with the south?

2013-02-28 11:32:32 AM
How does someone who has a CCP think that is an acceptable situation to brandish and discharge a weapon? In most classes, that kind of situation is repeatedly drilled into your head as not acceptable.

However, I agree the class needs to be considerably harder and way less political in its contents. Considering we all took the written test "as a group," that part and the firing 30-50 rounds part was a joke.

I think there should also be a short online written test (or something) every year you have to pass to show you are aware of any new changes to the law and refresh your memory. I don't care if that test is hard or easy, as its main purpose is to bring attention to the information.

Oh and while I'm on my soapbox, an official website that lists all the rules and differences in CCP laws from state to state. Researching and parsing some of the variances can be unnecessarily time consuming when preparing for a trip.

Great article ... doesn't even mention if he actually marked the car or if it did help the police find it!!

Sounds like a strained interpretation of Joe Biden's advice to either shoot a gun in the air from your porch, or shoot through the door.  Marking a shoplifter's car isn't that much of a stretch is it?

The revocation of the permit will be automatic once he's convicted of the felonies.

We don't want to lose our CCWs or handguns. Also, I'm hiding in California. It's safer here.

chiett: This guy needs his CCW permit revoked.

I was kind of wanting to take a look at their test out there, because apparently it's incredibly easy. Do they even have one to get a CCW? I had to take training and a test and demonstrate a need for one to get a CCW, but I still needed to have it signed off on by the sheriff's department. I've heard, but am not sure if it is true or not, that in some areas you just need the sheriff's department or someone else with the authority under local laws to sign off on it, no training or testing involved. That's scarier than a test so easy it lets a dumbfark like dude in TFA legally carry a concealed weapon.

Eh, I'll almost defend him, there are angles that risk less injury to bystanders. And trying to help guard/police should mitigate.

But I doubt he fired carefully.

Think of the criminals!

Rednecks down here used to put fake bullet hole stickers on their trucks.  I always wondered why they didn't just actually shoot at their trucks.

I'm all for an I.Q. test and a sanity test of some sort every six months to make sure the gun owner is both intelligent enough to own a gun and respect it, and hasn't gone nuckfuts crazy in the past few months.

If you go into a test like that talking about being able to defend against commies, Arabs, space aliens, or zombies, you don't get a permit.

If you can't figure out basic logic and get at least a 105 I.Q. score, you don't get a permit.

If you're suffering from any major mental health issues, you don't get a permit.

If you're dumber than a Kardashian, you don't get a permit.

And I especially think that when someone with a CCP does this kind of Rambo bullshiat with his gun, he should  never  be allowed to carry again. He should be permanently blacklisted, because he has shown he isn't smart enough, sane enough, or mature enough to handle the responsibility he has to the public when he's carrying.

I would love to see the shoplifter sue this guy for damages and win.

Not true. They're speed holes; they make the car go faster.

Martinez, who has a concealed weapons license, was not justified opening fire in a busy shopping parking lot in the middle of the day, Sampsell said.

Bahahahaha

Hey guys, you NEVER see a concealed carrier acting recklessly. Just try to find me some examples you can't! In your face, coward libs.

Shoplifter charged with misdemeanor.
Shooter charged with felony.
