I moved to Nashville from D.C. about 5 years ago and love it.  Since I've gotten here, the NY Times has declared it "Nowville" since its so hip and cool, and now this news.   I am the secret ingredient to TN's rise to the top!

I spent a few days in Nashville a couple years ago, and I enjoyed it. Any place where you can hear live music and order a beer at 8:00 AM is okay by me.

JDAI focuses on having less kids locked-up pre-adjudication. Doesn't mean that less crime is happening.

/actively participating in implementing JDAI in South Dakota

Headline: Tennessee leads Nation in keeping kids out of jail.
Reality: Tennessee has had the largest decrease in jailing kids

(don't know is the decrease is measured. It may just be that kids are spending fewer hours in jail though the number jailed remains the same)

I would guess that Vermont has had the smallest percent of kids in  jail for a long time.while Tennessee had a lot of room for improvement but still is no where near Vermont levels.

Dude, Tennessee is where Nashville is, if any state in the union is well-adjusted to dealing with/ignoring people that go farking retarded over music, it's TN.

I went to go see some musicians at the Bluebird one night and John Rich came in and sat down at the next table. (he drinks wine not beer)

I do like heavy metal music and wear lots of black. TN has treated me fine for most of my life (probably helps that I'm white and heterosexual)

Well, no.  The article says nothing about where TN stands nationally on juvenile incarceration.  They've reduced their rate significantly, but it looks like it's because they've cut down on calling the cops when kids misbehave in school.

Drop by my house any Sunday morning. We'll pop some IPAs and jam bluegrass.

I grew up about 20 miles north of Nashville...it's not as backwards as many other places in the state (the east is very, very conservative).  I didn't even listen to country music growing up.  I just hate how the lawmakers screw the state over with their idiocy...but I guess that's true of almost every other state.

I think it was a reference to the West Memphis Three.

I live near Nashville. It's a nice city. The people around here are pretty well-behaved as well. Few years back when the city and the surrounding areas was flooded it was refreshing to see people come together to help one another. Plus Ben Folds lives in the area. I saw him at a restaurant in Hendersonville a couple years back. I told my friend "That's Ben Folds, but I'm not going to bother him, because I know that if I were a celebrity I wouldn't want people bothering me while I was eating." Now I wish I would've at least said "Thank you for your music" as I left, but I didn't want to draw attention to him.
