And like that famous song by The Who, they're praying that they won't get fooled again.

How did they get fooled the first time? Yes, it was a bummer but it wasn't the result of foolery.

I never managed to see the Who with Moon as the drummer. I've seen several Who concerts with Entwhistle on bass. I've seen a couple since he died as well.

Townshend and Daltry still preform pretty well with the artists they have taking on Moon and The Ox's role. I'd be less concerned at this point with somebody else on bass than I would with Daltry's voice. He can still scream out a song better than most.... But his voice is beginning to crack too much to be convincing.

Having said that? Daltry still is the God of R-n-R vocals and nobody.... nobody! beats Townshend

New Band Name Ideas: "TheWho Minus Two?" ..... The? (6 letters total in "TheWho" .... Subtract the last 3 letters....or 50% of the band .... NEVERMIND!

The set they did for the Sandy relief show was great. I would like to see this version in concert, unlike many of their peers of the same era.  Their band is tight and Roger and Pete still are fantastic frontmen.

/although, if I could manage to find Obama's time machine and travel back to the early 70's to see them, well then that's a different story.

Exactly. Just some writer without enough sense to avoid a trite phrase.

And this: The group may be called 'The Who' but it's only half the band so is it truly the same group?

No.

A girl on my sister's softball team went to a Who concert 33 years ago, she never came home.

/wasn't the Who's fault

Um, the lineup that was going to perform that night had Kenney Jones on drums.  But yeah, it'd still be 50% off since he's no longer in the band... UNLESS they decide to let him sit in for Ringo's son.

Nice touch, accepting the original 1979 tickets. And the original concert-goers can take their adult children. Fun for everyone!

Mrs. God and I saw them a couple of months ago here in Pittsburgh. Awesome Quadrophenia show (We had box seats).

I saw them in Louisville a week or two ago. Keith and John may not be there anymore but it was still a GREAT show! Pete and Roger are as tight as ever.

Just saw em last month in LA and while Moon and the Ox we're not there phsycially, they did make appearances with the band, even interacting with Zack Starkey during an Entwistle bass solo!  it was a helluva show and very Who ish. So fark off haters.

Just finished reading Who I Am by Townshend......a very good read

I just saw them in Manchester, NH, and Daltrey lost his voice near the end, so that kind of sucked.

Agreed, he's a good writer though he went on a bit too much about his various girlfriends. Also no matter how many times he explains it I'll never understand what "Lifehouse" is supposed to be about.

TimSTP: Also no matter how many times he explains it I'll never understand what "Lifehouse" is supposed to be about.

I'll try.

Time and place: The future, the UK. Pollution is so bad that people live in suits that can recreate any experience. People stay connected via The Grid, Townshend's version of the Internet (not bad for 1971, ARPANET was only two years old). A father and daughter (Ray &Mary) in Scotland are able to live without the suits and they travel to London for a concert called The Lifehouse (Woodstock but without the rain and mud and Wavy Gravy). A computer guy named Bobby takes all the people attending's information and converts it in to sound waves. At a certain point, everyone's sound waves merge to form the perfect note and they all disappear, having reached perfection.

Songs that were to be included on the original album:

Side 1 (Ray's story)
1. Teenage Wasteland
2. Going Mobile (Don't care about pollution/I'm an air-conditioned gyspy)
3. Baba O'Riley
4. Time Is Passing
5. Love Ain't for Keeping

Side 2 (Mary/Jumbo's Story)
6. Bargain
7. Too Much of Anything
8. Greyhound Girl
9. Mary
10. Behind Blue Eyes

Side 3 (Bobby's Story)
11. I Don't Even Know Myself
12. Put the Money Down
13. Pure and Easy
14. Getting in Tune
15. Let's See Action (Nothing is Everything)

Side 4 (The Lifehouse Concert)
16. Relay
17. Join Together
18. Won't Get Fooled Again
19. The Song Is Over

There once was a note
Pure and easy
Playing so free
Like a breath, rippling by.....

Townshend had all sorts of elaborate plans but the project collapsed > the songs got cannibalized for different albums > Quadrophenia.

I agree - but I will gladly not understand "Floss" when it comes out too.

Not only that, but the folks that redeemed them got put up in the luxury boxes. The husband of a coworker was one of them, no word if it was open bar though.

Just agreeing here.  Saw them a couple of months ago do Quadrophenia.  Awesome show.  If they come to your area, don't miss it.

Myself and a couple of buddies went to an Outlaws/Molly Hatchet show one week after the Cincinatti incident. Let's just say the pre-show atmosphere was surreal and subdued. Pretty much normal as soon as Hatchet started playing, though.

They were pretty great for the Concert for New York City which was also sadly Entwistle's last performance in the States.

Saw them on the original Quadrophenia tour in Montreal. Awesome awesome show.

/would not go see them now
