Because, yeah, nobody has ever done THAT before.

I wonder if his next target will be the prosperity bible people, or will he just skip to the end and hit the Catholic Church and be murdered in his sleep?

Came in here to say this. Seems Lamont has never stepped into ANY church bookstore before.

Trademarking a centuries old name is just plain stupid.

Just another example of Trademark/copy-write/patent bureaucratic bullshiat.

Want to protect an original product sure, but naming your brand after one of the common religious Deities and expecting no one else to use the name with their own product is a whole lot of derp...

You big dummy! Doncha know Jesus does surgery for free? You just gotta believe!

Lamont says his vision was restored by "surgery and faith."

2 Corinthians 12:9-10

New International Version (NIV)

9 But he said to me, "My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness." Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ's power may rest on me. 10 That is why, for Christ's sake, I delight in weaknesses, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in difficulties. For when I am weak, then I am strong.

Any doc who's been around long enough will tell you that a big part of any recovery is the mindset of the patient. And those that have faith that they will get better have better odds in the long run. This guy has chosen Christianity as his religion of choice and it helped him stay positive when life/genetics crapped on him.

I'm not claiming that this was any sort of miraculous healing, but faith cannot be discounted as having a positive influence on his recovery.

1.2 billion Catholics owe him royalties on every "Hail Mary" because it uses the J word.

Solution: the World Intellectual Property Organization should strike down any and all trademarks for religious figures not filed by the figures themselves, except for the Church of the Subgenius.

We need to start a "Darwin UP!" line. You could do all the great thinkers and scientific minds depending on your leanings. Those who are astronomically inclined could do a "Galileo UP!". The Physicists could to an "Einstein UP!"...

It's endless...

Prosperity preachers are doing themselves in--or have you not noticed the headlines on TD Jakes, Creflo Dollar and TBN over the past year? So my money's on him going for the Catholic Church. Probably while they're trying to pick a new pope, before he settles into his ruby slippers and clicks his heels three times.

One thing I'd actually like him to go after (and this IS related to the Prosperity Gospel chucklefarks in its own way) is to go after those T-shirt places that blatantly rip off trademarks and service-marks only by replacing the thing that's trademarked with some Christian reference.  (These, of note, are NOT being done as actual parody of the particular trademarked products, thus the parody "fair use" exemption to copyright and trademark law doesn't apply; Coca-Cola in particular has had some success at going after these unoriginal farktards, and you notice that they tend NOT to use Disney's characters in their parodies.  That said, a LOT of companies get their service-marks ripped off like this; in fact, much of why the (provider of yummy instant diabetes on a plate) International House of Pancakes sued the (NARasitic and quite possibly involved in murder-and-sex scandals as of late) International House of Prayer-Kansas City was because the latter was actually pretty blatantly ripping off the service marks of the former.

(And the reason I say this is related to "Prosperity Gospel" stuff--this sort of thing seems to be especially heavily promoted in these circles, not just the bogus "parody" ripoffs but the people actually selling and making them, too.  There's not a whole lot of this being done in mainline Christianity.)

/full disclosure--I'm actually familiar with "parody" versus "ripoff" in part because I was an active participant once upon a time on a Usenet newsgroup that specialised in parodies of a certain popular character at the time
//we did sometimes get group members threatened by the company that owned the copyright to such character, and it was pointed out that this fell under fair use as parody and criticism, and the copyright owners would leave well enough alone after that
///however, we weren't ripping off the character or well known stuff from the show to prosyletise, which is pretty much exactly what it seems Jesus Jeans is going after
