(AZ Family)   You know how in porn when a cabbie tells a woman she doesn't have to pay him for the ride if she lets him give her another kind of ride and she's totally into the suggestion? Yeah, it doesn't work that way in real life   (azfamily.com) divider line 74

ArcadianRefugee: Police said due to the nature of the crimes they believe there may be additional victims.

Victims? He didn't force them to do anything, nor was this a "you will never be promoted unless you..." situation. He gave them an additional option beyond what was originally agreed on. They declined.

How are they victims?

They were forced to acknowledge the existence of sex, and that some people might think about them sexually.

So WTF are you saying, submitter? Those Penthouse letters might not be true? Well, thanks for ruining my day.

Easy defence for the guy. Your honor I was just trying to bring back the barter system, rather then exchange money for the cab ride, I asked the woman if they wanted to exchange one service for another they declined paid for the cab ride and went on their way.
Done and done.

I was a cabbie in college and I was offered several times "services" in lieu of payment. I never took such "services" because they were either ugly or men, sometimes both.

Oh, Jesus...

I was thinking, all he had to do is shave the rest of his head and the beard.  Go as porno mr. clean look.

filter: Is there a law against this?

Is there a law against exchanging a nice meal and a few drinks for sex?  I thought that was how dating worked.

You may think sex is free, but one way or another, men always end up paying for it.

As the article hints at, prostitution laws in most areas prohibit any form of financial gain for sexual exchange.  Reading a bunch of strange laws once, I recall NYC specifically has this on the books as being LEGAL.  However the law states that both parties has to be cool with it.  He should learn to hang a small sign and let the customer suggest the alternate payment first.  I am not okay with it, so I would rather the driver would not bring it up.  I can ignore the sign.

Sadly this shiat isn't too uncommon.  Every time a female I know needs money for something the 'sex for money' offers start rolling in from all directions.  Isn't usually from a company though, it's usually from 'friends' that are only friends with them because they're attracted to them.  A girl doesn't know who her real friends are until she biatches about being broke and see's who tries to get them to hoe it out.

Funny. To me, this is why women have it made.

Mr. Right:
I can see that his employer would fire him as not being conducive to repeat business from women but arrested and charged with solicitation of prostitution seems a bit of over-reach.

HotIgneous Intruder:
Since when is hitting on non-prostitutes considered soliciting prostitution?

It's not like prostitutes are officially licensed or anything.  If you offer any woman money for sex, that is soliciting prostitution, even if she is in the habit of accepting money for sex.

[Look, women. Either you can be the independent women, going out there into the world and taking no crap. Or you can go back to being chaperoned. I don't mind. What I ain't going to take is that you're equal to any man, when you go crying to the police over something like this.]

I'll probably catch some crap for agreeing with you but I do anyway.

/yeah, I'm a female

OK, you're in my cab.  You don't know me, you don't know what I'm capable of, and we're driving around, maybe to your destination or maybe to a deserted warehouse I know about somewhere.  I proposition you for sex.  Feel threatened yet?  I feel like that's the bigger issue here.  I know at least one Farkette has posted in the past saying she was raped by a cab driver, it certainly does happen.

Yeah, but according to Fark Standards, all women are whinny biatch who should just toughen up and accept to be treated like a whore.

Ah.  You're just here to engage in misogynistic trolling.  I'm sure your hand does not require its own dental insurance, may the two of you be happy together always.

SpaceBison: That only works if you're not ugly.

Well, I dunno. Here in Lexington, KY a cab ride starts at $2.50 then $00.25 for each 1/10 of a mile.  I'd rather walk and save the moneyfor booze, but you can get across town for like $10.

Any ho who'd think $10 is enough has to be too ugly to sit next to me.

FARK, I am disappoint.  60+ posts and no mention of, "Jeez lady, don't you have anything smaller?"

The Envoy:   When asked how she got home she said that she'd got a taxi but because she couldn't pay she'd had sex with the guy instead.  Then she just went off to bed.  We were all shocked but her friend said that that's standard practice for her.

Did this exchange also apply to people she knew, or just random cabbies?

I was going to say something like that, but you said it so well that I would just like to point to your post.

This happens to the roomate a lot. Cabbies offer her rides for sex all the time. She pretty much just laughs it off.

You know, I agree. If he was in no way violent or attempted to coerce them one way or the other (as far as preferred payment went), then what's the problem here? Is it misdemeanor sexual harassment or something?

The Envoy: One of my friends at university had some of her friends come and visit for a weekend.  One of her friends was a really pretty girl, really lovely and funny, but when she had a few drinks she turned in to a nutcase.  We all went out for the night and ended up getting hammered.  She disappeared and we couldn't find her when it was time to leave.  After searching for a while we all assumed that she had gone home with somebody.  The problem was that she'd left her purse with her friend.  A few hours after we got home she staggered in the door.  When asked how she got home she said that she'd got a taxi but because she couldn't pay she'd had sex with the guy instead.  Then she just went off to bed.  We were all shocked but her friend said that that's standard practice for her.  Bizarre.

Is her name Shelley, by any chance? About 5'7, not really skinny, but a nice pair of D-somethings with matching vacant expression? Also, see if she answers to "wooley worm."

Anybody apparently.  Yes, I know, but I was too interested in her friend which, predictably, went nowhere.

No, her name was Kate, she was ex-Army, about 5'8" and very pretty.  This was in England.
