Everyone complaining he is simply doing his job need to remember a few things:
He and his brother are rich, on their own outside being a royal heir.
He doesn't have to have a job, especially a dangerous one like has gotten into.
He saves people for a living. We call Firemen, who are simply just doing their jobs, heroes. They get into the news when they save people.
He is doing the Noble thing instead of the lazy Rich kid thing. How many other children of insanely wealthy parents or 'dynasties' are doing anything even close to as worthy as that?
Oh, there a few, but the number is very small.

As a Canadian I will feel proud that we still have ties, however ceremonial, with a future Monarch like him.

God save the Queen
And when that day comes, God save the King

/And I expect to feel the burns of raging flames coming hard and fast...

Guy does job, which involves saving lives, more at 11.

Meanwhile, where's all the credits to regular Joes like paramedics and firefighters who also save people while putting themselves in danger? Oh, they're not important royals, nevermind.....

I love it. News site says that Lindsay Lohan was arrested again for drugs, everyone wants to watch. News site says that a Prince, who ismost likely the next King of England (let's face it, I think the current Queen is waiting until William is old enough and then try to supersede her son for her grandson), actually does something that shows good moral fiber (and hopefully a good role model at that), and people give him snark.

It's nice to see some good upstanding celebrities actually utilizing their influence to try to bring about positive changes to the world. It's also pretty cool to see Harry calm the fark down and start behaving proper.

I mean, I'm a pretty cynical person and even I can appreciate this.

Summoner101: And while his SAR missions are commendable, what I take from the article is that four missions in six months is a lot which it isn't.

You're basing your contention that 4 missions in 6 months isn't much on what, exactly? A gut feeling? The RAF Air Rescue site brags that they have over 1000 callouts a year, so 80 a month or so. Wiki shows them having 12 bases, so that leaves 7 missions a month for each base, on average, and I'm betting they're not evenly distributed. I'd guess they each have to have a few different helicopters on standby at any given time, which means at least 3 shifts of 2 crews, so you're looking at around 1 mission a month, if those crews never get a day off. Of course they do get days off and breaks, so you add another two crews to rotate in. All of a sudden, 4 missions in 6 months looks like a pretty typical number.

thisisarepeat: Raw_fishFood: J. Frank Parnell: Looks good in the papers and eventually history books, but he still does less for the world than any of us.

I dunno, the most important thing I do is make sure people don't buy 3.2% at the grocery I work at, and instead get some microbrew from the local business next door.

So, you know, yeah.

Compared to a douche that flies a helicopter that is fueled and maintained by a crew of about nine people that are paid for by his government and considering that he is watched over specifically so that he is never, ever, exposed to a situation that could possibly be dangerous,  you are a hero.

For all the aristocrat fellating shiat stains, touting this boys heroics...sucking dick is all you are good for. (i'd be surprised if you were passable applicants)  Wake me when there is a prince in the royal irish fusiliers.

Know how I know you've never been involved with SAR or had anything to do with helicopters?  Particularly in British weather?

Hmm, normally threads about SAR personnel are all about "Good job" and "God bless!" and on and on about the rescuers being big damn heroes no matter how frequently the personnel is active or how easy / complicated the rescue.  Yet when it comes to a rich kid man doing the rescuing its all "meh, no big deal".  Huh.  I guess SAR personnel are down a few hero rungs and I'd assume firemen are next.

Unoriginal_Username: true, but how many kids of US politicians are doing something like this?
Hell, how many of them have actual jobs?

Which is why the disclaimer at the beginning was meant to be sincere rather than another layer of snark.  Actually flying SAR missions, especially if their in non-clear weather which would be normal for the UK, is kilometers beyond political children such as the Romney clan which claim they're serving their country by working on their father's campaign.  And while his SAR missions are commendable, what I take from the article is that four missions in six months is a lot which it isn't.  At least for normal people.  This is the area his brother has over him having actually deployed to a combat zone.

Oddly enough, the list of US politicians with sons/daughters in the military doesn't closely resemble the list of US politicians that most advocate using that military in war.

No he won't because Charles is next in line after QEII.

Well, it's just another temporary obstacle. It's not like there's any blood relation between Charles and Harry to muddy the waters.

Summoner101: /snark on

Not to rag on a royal person too much for actually being useful, but four SAR missions over six months is only notable when it's a royal person doing it.  I wouldn't be surprised with four SAR missions a week for a regular SAR pilot being standard given the amount of sea traffic around the British isles.

/snark off

Zomg he rescued 2 people off a mountain in Scotland? Did they run out of tea?

The coast guard in Alaska does this on a daily basis in an area that's truly dangerous and rarely makes the international news.

Uh... what?
You're saying if the hikers reported missing had not been white, he would have shot them?
Also.. how do you know they're white?  They're unidentified in the article.

Come on, brown people don't ski.
