What was with the end of that chase?
The cops didn't slam him to the ground, hit him with clubs, tase him, kick him, crush theirs knees into his spine, dislocate his shoulders and scrape his face back and forth across the pavement?
Fin amateurs!!!

That's the first thing I expected as well, and my surprise a sad reflection on the state of things in America.

I know, you would've thought they could at least PIT him and run over his legs or something.  Nothing exciting to see here.  (sigh) Maybe next time they will plant evidence and make this worth reading.

Getaway vehicle is too slow for driveby or flyby, suggest we get out and walk.

Got to give him credit for trying.

Ok, I've got some questions..

1. What language are they speaking?
2. Why do they not believe in parking spaces in this country?  Why are cars parked half off the road, blocking the lane of travel?  Seems nutty.
3. Why would subby call that scooter a moped?

My first thought was "How many stars did this guy have?"

At one point the chopper crewman said: "Speed is 15 - one-five - miles an hour."

I thought they used Km/h in the UK.

I would think a moped has a much better chance of getting away than any other vehicle without a helicopter involved.

2013-02-27 10:31:08 PM
That was a scooter. Not a moped.

I saw a motorcycle chase once. Thats how to evade the cops in a city. Although, it would be funny to watch a foot chase where the suspect is in good shape.

They never said why they were chasing him other than he was banned.

Must have known who he was.

Yeah, in the right setting, even a helicopter wouldn't be a lot of good if the pursued managed to find their way into the right area without close ground pursuit.  A busy shopping mall might work if one can change one's look while entering by taking off a jacket or something, and then buy more clothes and change into them to really throw off a description...

Me too. I can't even imagine what that might be. And maybe that's the first sign that I need a "Thinking Skills Programme".

Nope, while they are mostly metric they still use English measurements on occasion.

I was also surprised at how civil the end of that chase was.  American cops just feel it's part of their job to punish people whenever they can, fortunately the British cops don't do that.

And that's the helicopter trifecta today. Please return your seats to the upright position.

Last time a moped was used like that, "Steal My Sunshine" was receiving a lot of airplay.

No, its not sad at all. Obviously that is solid evidence as to why most of Britlands youths are degenerate chavs that know their actions will result with reasonable treatment. We may have our issues, but at least here they know that consequences of their actions come with the very expectable risk of great bodily injury.

I noticed in the article they also used the spelling "jail" instead of "gaol".

Moped... moped, moped... that word doesn't seem right.
Reads more like the past tense of moping.

jbrooks544: Ok, I've got some questions..

1. What language are they speaking?

English with a west country accent.

2. Why do they not believe in parking spaces in this country?  Why are cars parked half off the road, blocking the lane of travel?  Seems nutty.

Most of the houses were built when cars were the toys of the wealthy. Why build parking for people who will only walk, get the bus or use a pushbike.

3. Why would subby call that scooter a moped?

A moped is a legal definition of a powered two wheeled vehicle with an engine no bigger than 50cc and limited to a top speed of 30mph. So mopeds are all scooters but not all scooters are mopeds

All I could think while watching thisvideo was that it actually seemed fun. Almost harmless. Not worth it, what with the criminal charges and all, but still...

Weeeeeeeeeeee!

<CSB>

My former landlord at an old college house got a DUI on his moped.  Right in front of our house.  We were hanging out in the garage and saw the whole thing.  He then wheels the moped into our garage and offers to sell it cheap to any of us, then gets hauled away in the cop car.

I have no idea how far they chased him on his moped before he could get to one of his rental properties, but I bet the cops were laughing the whole way.
