Gunther: Rwa2play: As overused as the plot would be, having Ares in a Lex Luthor-type of role (CEO of a military industrial corporation who's freely supplying weapons across the world in order to inflame conflicts) would be a great foil for Diana's message.

That could work. A decent director could make it a subtle jab at Iron Man's unfortunate glorification of military contractors. Perhaps you have a weapons company called "Ares International" with a CEO that portrays himself as a patriot who wants America to have the most technologically advanced military in the world to keep us safe, while simultaneously selling tech that reprograms those weapons under the table. You get a nice second-act fight scene where WW is attacked by a bunch of high-tech drones or something after she gets too close to the truth. She tracks down the CEO and discovers he actually is the mythological Ares.

OK, that may be a bit on the nose.

Hah!  Great minds think alike 'cause that popped into my head as soon as I hit "add comment".  A sort of "What if Tony Stark actually was more like Obadiah Stane?" A great foil for Diana's message of love and peace, because she knows who he really is but...the world would never believe an Olympian god walks amongst them.

ZeroCorpse: The best versions show it for what it is: ARMOR.

I could see the costume

Yeah, keep the updated version.  Really hate when people start going off with the "she should wear pants" argument when it's the fault of the artists for trying to transform the bottom half of her costume into a thong (Ed Benes, I'm specifically looking at you assclown!).

The Stealth Hippopotamus's cosplayer is wearing going that route with a few minor changes to make it more protective (greaves, pauldrons, a few more strips of leather for the pteruges (yeah, had to google that one). Marketing would complain that it isn't "sexy" enough, but throw a few shots of it with strategic battle damage in the trailer and you can woo the pervert crowd easily enough.

That.

Um... what? Military contractors were the bad guys in BOTH Iron Man movies so far. One was a crazy megalomaniac and the other was comically incompetent. The only businessman that looks good is Tony Stark and his first thought upon returning from captivity was to get his company out of the weapons making business. A stance he has stuck with ever since.

True; but DC would probably have Ares as a mix of both Stark and Stane as a tweak towards Marvel.  Ares having Stark's charisma for PR purposes but Stane's ruthlessness when it comes to promoting conflict, not simply for business but because he's the God of War.

I think that could be a good direction to go. Though personally, I think DC has enough problems just coming up with a good story without worrying about trying to sneak in digs are Marvel.

I know Wonder Woman doesn't have a lot of fans on Fark, but I like her. Always have.

And I encourage my nieces to like her. I buy them T-shirts and stuff with her on them.

If they gotta have a pop culture hero, I'd rather they have a strong, invincible, fearless, beautiful independent woman as that hero.

I like the concept of Wonder Woman but the execution usually falls through. A couple times in the last few years, I've gotten a handful of issues of the comic and it just doesn't work for me, both before and after the new 52. They just can't seem to put together a good story.

Can we please stop fellating Christopher Nolan now? Thanks.

I love Wonder Woman...but frustrated as hell that either people aren't given enough time to make her character jump out the page or people send her in the wrong direction.  Even now, the new 52's direction for her is not what I would've wanted.  I mean, I saw the Hercules TV movies/series and, sadly, the current WW run reminds me of those stories.

The way things are at DC's entertainment division nowadays, they'd write the snarky digs at Marvel first, before they even complete a rough 1st draft of the script.  Then complain about how no one got the digs because everyone was too busy criticizing the script for how crappy it was.

At this point you have to hope that the light flicks on for a higher-up at WB realizing that a) DC's entertainment division should be doing much better than they are and b) realizing that current relationship between WB and DC is not working out for anyone, they blow it up and reorganize along the lines of Marvel's relationship with Disney.  Frankly, Geoff Johns should have nothing to do with this; especially since he greenlighted the abortion that was "Green Lantern".

I agree with this. I collected it for a year and I just couldn't figure out why I should care which greek god is stabbing which other in the back. It had zero effect on anyone else. And Wonder Woman is spending all this time protecting one pregnant woman and her baby and completely ignoring the rest of the world? How does that in any way fit with her character?

ReapTheChaos: No clue who that woman was, but she was one ugly ass wonder woman.

I knew someone would say that. I think that a gritty, battling WW is the only way to portray her in live action, rather than a bunch of scenes with jiggling foobies. That cinematography and stunt action was awesome.

NoseBrain: As someone who has never really read a comic book, I can say that this is the first fan-made "trailer" I've ever seen that didn't make me cringe and feel sorry for them.  I might actually pay $10 to watch a matinee showing of this.

If you thought that WW trailer looked good, you should really watch this.
