Once again, the use of the 'Hero' tag misused. Doing the right thing doesn't make you a hero.

I would have kept driving and called the cops when I got to my destination.  Why risk being investigated for theft if you don't intend to profit?

We don't live in such a world.  Most people are honest.

It just *SEEMS* like we don't because we hear about the exceptions more often than the normal behavior of most people.

Keeping oneself out of prison by not letting greed get the best of you does not automatically make one a hero.  It just means smart.

/Not that the person returning the money isn't honest, but this is something will will get prison time in the United States.

Brinks should have done more than simply call to say thanks.  It would have cost more to them than losing the 11k (probably insured), but they should have fixed her car (or bought her a new one) and maybe set up some kind of fund for the disabled kid.  The ROI from the good PR would have been huge.

Sorry, I am a bad person. I would have sat on the money for a while to make sure it's cool. Then it is all farking mine. Sorry. That's a lot of dough, could make my life a lot better. A thank you call from Brinks, not gonna do much for me.
