How can al Qadia keep going after we took down Bin Laden and took all their records.. oh, the TALIBAN.

Yeah, they'll keep fighting to take back their country for themselves.

So Obama and Barbie have something else in common besides a secret sexual relationship with Reggie Love. Not news.

When afghan police kidnap children and keep them as rape slaves (not to mention all the other corruption) I am not surprised to see support for the taliban.

Wow, misleading data given out in an election year.
I'm stunned that such a thing could happen.
I'm also equally stunned that we only fight the Taliban now, never al-qaeda.
But do not be concerned, it was not our data that was wrong.

A government number later revised to be shown to be a complete and utter fabrication? NO! This is probably the first time in history that's happened, at least. They'd never do that with anything important, like the economy.

He should've also worked harder to avoid redundancy..

Math is very hard for politicians, just look at the debt, deficit, and budget... or lack there of.

It really gratifies me to know that the Tea Party has gotten under the skin of the left so badly that they've become incoherent and unhinged.

2013-02-27 11:33:15 AM
I can't say what happened because it is classified, but I know what caused the numbers to change. It was nothing nefarious. It was not an attempt to cover up a lack of progress. Don't say Obama and Panetta were deliberately misleading the people because that did not happen.

2013-02-27 11:39:24 AM
The fact that 80 percent of the violence has been taking place in areas where less than 20 percent of the Afghan population lives remains unchanged," Little said.

Allahu Pareto!

2013-02-27 11:47:13 AM
After reading the article and seeing what the spokesman said, I'll confirm that the story he told is essentially true. The Afghan forces were not getting their reports entered into the database. We spent a lot of time putting those into the database. The attack numbers were mostly unchanged from 11 to 12 after those reports were included.

2013-02-27 11:51:00 AM
Attacks on Americans, globally, keep going up.  It's media reporting them during the Obama administration that has gone down.

7% seems to be barely outside an error of measurement when talking about attacks in Afghanistan. Not surprised it was wrong.

stuhayes2010: 7% seems to be barely outside an error of measurement when talking about attacks in Afghanistan. Not surprised it was wrong.

And yet 2% cut from baseline budgets, ie we still spend more next year than this, is the end of the world.

2013-02-27 01:35:14 PM
StudHayes: the error had nothing to do with errors in measurement. We simply found a bunch of reports that had not been entered into our master database that originated from Afghan forces. Those reports should have been in the database all along.

2013-02-27 01:36:44 PM
Pockafrusta: this was not a conscious attempt to lie. We thought the reporting procedures were getting everything. We were wrong.

Yeah, they just intentionally said something completely unsupported by their own data; so it's technically correct, the best kind of correct.

But seriously, you're fighting an uphill battle.  If people want to believe someone lied, all the evidence in the world that it was a data error won't change their mind.

Quick question: Has anyone read a headline that says "Taliban scientists do X to benefit humanity"?

How about "Al Qaeda develops new farming technology that increases food production" ?

Difficulty: do not site The Onion or other news parodies.

This would be like the one and only time out of hundreds of lies that it was a genuine data error. There is a reason convicted felons cant catch a break.....reputation. This President has a reputation for saying WTF he wants to and then playing stupid when he gets caught.

Take Sequestration for an example. There is literal recorded evidence that it was Obama's policy put forward by two of his top people and directly referenced by him in a speech threatening to veto any attempt to stop it. But the instant it becomes an unpopular things suddenly there goes Barry saying not only wasnt it his idea, it was those wascelly wepublicans what set him up the bomb.

Then you have Monday.... Obama says Sequestration will cause thousands of criminals to be set free......Tuesday the DHS sets free thousands of criminals.....Wednesday Obama says....we didnt know anything about that.......

Okay, so we have two competing hypotheses. On the one hand, maybe I am telling the truth. Maybe I was a part of the ad hoc team that was rushed into existence after one of the database administrators found that a bunch of reports were not being entered into the database and had to hurriedly enter them all. Maybe I was a part of the assessments team that did the review of the database after all of this data input and reported the new figures to the commander of ISAF.On the other hand, I could be lying my ass off because I'm in the tank for Obama and trying to protect his cred.I wonder, would any Farkmin be willing to trace my IP addresses for the posts in this thread and confirm that I made them all from Afghanistan?

look at that dude tripping over himself to defend this shiat, it is amazing; find that young man a just cause, these pukes do not, in any way, deserve that kind of devotion. It is surreal to witness kids defending, tooth and nail, the very people disenfranchising them.

Coalition casualties in Iraq and Afghanistan:

iCasualties.org

iCasualties.org for Afghanistan

Yeah, I realize it doesn't list attacks. Attacks could be up but superior armor and disengagement from combat operations could account for lower casualties. Or it could be that it is fewer attacks are leading to fewer casualties. Dunno. But, FYI.
