I hated proofs and theorems..  I could sorta-kinda remember the rules, but never the names of the rules.

Kudos to Ms. McKellar for trying to make math cool.

Much more impressive and useful than some Hollywood drama king/queen peddling reality shows, junk science and politically correct nonsense.

I don't NEED to use math on the job, but it makes things go faster. It also makes me less depressed about all the education that I waste.

My calculus atrophied. Sometimes this makes me sad...but not sad enough to brush up on it.

Maybe she can do a show about the nonlinear constrained optimization methods I use at work.

A number 1 value meal is actually 20 cents cheaper than the price of the constituent items. Would you like to super size that for a dollar more?

I was in an accident so the math part of my brain doesn't work properly. The accident was my conception.

/would love to explain this to Danica over dinner

Thinking about Danica McKellar at work certainly makes my nonlinear optimization feel a little constrained.

I really suck at math, so I'd go on the show and be all "how many times can I go into you?" then the crowd would gasp and Danica would play coy and we'd bang each other's brains out backstage. Or she would berate me verbally, make me rightfully feel like a giant piece of shiat and have lot security beat me into a fine, mushy paste. Either way I'd end it by saying "I liked Madeline better anyway!"

Or, even worse, someone like Miam Bialak leveraging her impressive academic qualifications to peddle junk science that dramatically increases the likelihood of children dying.

Imaginary numbers
Never turn you down
If all the others turn you away
They're around

It's my private pleasure
With my fantasy
Someone to share my wildest dreams
With me

Imaginary number,
You're mine, anytime,
Imaginary lover,
Ooh yeah

My job shouldn't require much math if we wanted to do it poorly (like has been done for years prior). I prefer doing things right.

Nearly came to tears (of joy) when it came to justify a model we constructed; one of the assumptions wasn't clearly valid. I had to reach back to a textbook on algegraic topology to prove an equivalence. And they said I'd never use this stuff in the real world...

My bookkeeping job really doesn't require much math... in fact, accounting in general doesn't require much math, which tends to surprise people. It's mostly number matching really...

Sadly, shows like this will make kids WANT to be engineers, actuaries, work on space shuttles, etc. which is fine. There are lots of cool jobs that require mathematics, the problem arises when the kids are told they have to actually study math and know stuff and are required to think.

We have a major push to create more STEM majors...There is no shortage of people wanting to go into STEM fields, the problem is they do not like the amount of work involved to get the STEM degree.

Lots of people want to become doctors due to shows like ER and Grey's anatomy.  They show the glory side of the profession (saving lives, sleeping with other doctors, wearing white coats) they gloss over the 12 years of school it took for them to get those jobs.

I would like to see a realistic medical drama called "Med School".  Every week for an hour it just shows someone at a table reading books and studying.  It would last for eight seasons before the spinoff "Taking Histories"

I will submit an idea for her show still...Math teacher.  or for irony "Karl Rove"
