Blowing them ashore?? Dammit, that was always your mother's answer for every ...prob ...

Oh, I didn't read the story first. Sorry, my bad.

2013-02-26 08:35:41 PM
neat.
nothing original about it, just search YouTube for other instances, but still neat.

2013-02-26 08:42:43 PM
Is it just me, or did it really look like Ian was turned on when he described the doe spread out on the ice?  It looked like just reflecting on that, took his breath away.

2013-02-26 08:55:05 PM
I totally misread that last word.

Kinky.

2013-02-26 09:23:14 PM
Well deer, it ain't gonna blow itself.

2013-02-26 09:24:50 PM
Wow, I totally read that as "Blowing her A**hole" and I was like WTF?

Glad it was a misread.

They are cruelly dumb critters.

In case you didn't know, it poops brown jellybeans.

I was expecting them to use the helicopter to scare the deer into making for the shore. I did not expect them to literally blow it ashore. Nifty.

Almost worth the ad I sat through.

mongbiohazard: They are cruelly dumb critters.

And now two more have survived to devour the forest understory, serve as Lyme disease vectors, and finish out their lives with about 15 grand worth of auto body damage to some poor slob just trying to get to work.

But hey, the government saved Bambi.

Doe, a deer, a shemale deer...

OMG Subby! I misread that last word. Nice play!

Michael, blow the doe ashore..

Hallelujah!

You can tell she wanted it. See how her fur lays back? Wide stance? Oh hoh hoh hohhhh yeahhh...

2013-02-26 09:51:53 PM
So seriously... I love animals and all but what did this cost?

2013-02-26 09:53:43 PM
I used to do the same thing when I was little. Except instead of a helicopter, it was a leaf blower, and instead of a frozen lake, it was a smooth garage floor, and instead of deer, it was kittens. Pretty much the same though.

[watches edited-for-prime-time video]

Aw. So cute!

[watches the raw video]

Ummm. The deer's hind legs were pretty much non-functional when it tried to run away. I can't see that working out well for the deer. I can see that working out well for some coyotes though.

We take our wildlife seriously in Canada. Mmmmm...except baby seals. "We need to cull them or they will suffer!" Of course, ignoring the fact that...

THEY SURVIVED FOR MILLIONS OF YEARS WITHOUT OUR HELP.

2013-02-26 10:19:45 PM
Wait a sec., haven't we been getting reports of deer overpopulation?  If you're going through the trouble getting the doe off the ice, shoot it, clean it and eat it.

Canada? They were just blowing them back so the hunters could bag em on terra firma.

I never understand that argument.

A) You've already paid your taxes for their services...who cares.
B) Just like rescue crews saving some dolt rock climber off the side of a cliff, the operation leads to highly beneficial practice for these entities that far exceeds their faux rescue training.

Requiring a 30-second commercial, only to be rewarded with a mere 15 seconds of actual deer blowage out of a 2.5 minute clip of slow-speaking human pie-holes???

Grrrrrrrr...

Sometimes emergency services sends a bill to people they rescue.  That helicopter had to cost several thousand dollars for a deer that probably died within days anyway.

Stupid misuse of public resources.

Have one of those, altho slightly different (still sealed, box bottom, comes with box of candy)... apparently an old one an ex-gf's mom gave to her before she passed away, and the ex gave to me because she was afraid her daughter would break it. Know she never asked for it back, so I am fairly certain it is still in the back of a top shelf

Deer are born in April/May.  This is February.  I'll wait here while you all figure this one out.

2013-02-26 11:22:58 PM

a4dzac: Read: Rarely.

If it is one time it's more than it should be if thousands of dollars are spent wasted on a deer.

//Checked and it seems it is probably between 500 and a grand an hour for a helicopter.

2013-02-26 11:26:18 PM
But, doe s this count against their bag limit?

2013-02-26 11:29:21 PM
I would have used a crossbow with some really strong fishing line attached to it, but the helicopter method works nearly as well.

I think you're missing the point...in regards to budgeting, etc., this has all been paid for already.  If you think not, you are in a state of disbelief.

What if the helicopter was already out flying doing some other work?  How do you know that that is not the case?  Hmmm?  Also, how do you know that they did not send a bill to the deer?  And who knows, maybe she paid it!

Biological Ali: FARK: By blowing her ashore

Doe, a deer, a shemale deer...

January 2007 had similar story with video and some Farker came up with this,
Blow a deer, a big male deer
Way, across a frozen pond
Me, I stand and watch in awe
Feh, I knew him from a fawn

Sorry I did not record their name.

And you're missing the next point.  If it's been budgeted, then the money for projects like this is a finite resource.  If it is a finite resource, why the hell are you spending it on saving whitetail deer?
