The Republican Party is really in trouble when Karl Rove seems like the voice of reason.  They need to get their house in order.

Joe USer: 58% is barely?

When it comes to confirming Cabinet appointments, it should be a scandal.

Very much so. These votes are typically purely procedural

You'll get over it Grumpy Grampa McCain and butt boy Lindsey.

I hope Lindsay Graham gets Tea Partied so bad now.  It really is a treat when that happens given their track record in the generals

Nice to see that United States Senators are such f*cking children.

FTFY.

He is the slimiest sack of shiat in the senate.  He always oozes towards some controversy in order to make a stand based on his overarching moral principles
whoever is paying him.

They did it to that guy from Utah with the perfect conservative record because he did that one thing that was good for Obama.

Lindsey's going to face a primary challenger, no doubt about it

In Graham's district? Charlie Manson would win if he had (R) after his name on that ballot. He'd also make a much better Senator than little Lindsay.

2013-02-26 08:05:06 PM
Glad that's over. I guess it takes a while to get Knesset approval.

2013-02-26 08:05:55 PM
Strange that the four GOPpers that voted for him are from conservative states.

"He will take office with the weakest support of any defense secretary in modern history, which will make him less effective on his job," said Sen. John Cornyn of Texas, the Senate GOP's No. 2 Republican.

In much the same way that Obama is the most divisive President evar!

Is this the first time in Obama's term that something passed the Senate with fewer votes than what's needed to sustain a filibuster?

I had a great rant against him after the 2008 Republican convention, but now I've lost it to the sands of time.

"Hagel certainly will have his hands full from the start. One of the first challenges - billions in automatic, across-the-board budget cuts are set to hit the Pentagon on Friday."

Maybe they realized that if they wanted to blame him for the unpleasant consequences, they'd have to confirm him first.

I would rather vote for Michelle Bachmann than Graham.  At least she's honestly crazy.  God I hate him.  He's like Lieberman but even slimier.

A picture of what Lindsey Graham might look like:

Awesome.  So, what's the next completely benign thing that has always been largely a matter of formality but is suddenly going to generate massive outrage and gnashing of teeth?

I am pleased Rand Paul voted for him. Don't like a lot of things Paul says, but pleased with his consistency on defense.

This is the same guy that loves Israel so much that he is marrying an Israeli and instead of moving to Israel to live with her is making her move to the United States to live with him.

When it's a respected member of the loyal opposition party it is absolutely a scandal.

Really? This is disappointing.

Also why did Rand Paul voted No to end the debate but voted for Hagel? Is Rand Paul also a part of "Friends for Hamas" too?

I guess now the Senate should be bringing Richard Cordray up for a vote soon.

The Washington Post had Ted Cruz's input, which was basically as douchy as you'd expect:

"I hope those concerns are proven wrong," Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Tex.), a freshman on the Armed Services Committee, said in a statement. "I fervently hope that this confirmation does not embolden Iran to accelerate their nuclear weapons development; I fervently hope that this confirmation does not undermine our vital alliance with Israel."

I'm still calling class warfare on anybody who calls Hagel a moron. What they mean is enlisted man who doesn't know his place

As a DOD Farker, it is not my place to comment on the merits of Secretary Hagel but I look forward to working for him.

High on the docket, I hope, is fixing the "Distinguished Warfare" medal and the mess it created.

so, Charlie Rangel is the Defense Minister now?

Politicians vote "Yes" and "No" on legislation on one premise: Whether they think it's a good premise.  So is it any surprise that the Democrats cannot pass a single bill?  Is it any surprise that they have to fight tooth and nail to get routine cabinet appointments through the system?  And that's the point I am making.  Democrats are flarbl foofl tax-raising troodle-toggles who poop through their mouth and foop through their roop.  Foofl flarfl foob.  Foobl fardl frottle fitty floobs.
