The thing about Chicago-style pizza is, you might as well just pour cream of mushroom soup in it and be done with it.

As long as they're referring to Caserta's and not the godawful Rhode Island tradition of un-cheesed pizza....

FTFA:The Rhode Island capital held onto its silver medal position from last year, perhaps because, like Chicago, it offers an only-in-Providence pie: grilled pizza, where the dough is cooked on one side, then flipped before the toppings are added. A great place to try it is downtown's Bacaro, whose chef is from Al Forno, home of the original grilled pizza. To go a layer deeper into the city's pizza culture, sample the pizza strips-topped with just sauce-found at LaSalle Bakery.

Fark you NO.  That no-cheese pizza is the worst stuff on earth.  It's almost always cold, too.  And seriously, how can you talk about the "best pizza in the city" without talking about Caserta's? The only way they could fark this up worse is by mentioning Ronzio's shiat-tacular pizza.

As far as Caserta's is concerned, I have heard it is overrated.
Bakery pizza most likely has cheese on it. The bakery I worked in sprinkled the pizza with grated Parmesan cheese after it came of the oven and it  quickly melted into the sauce.

Casertas you have to try for yourself. Sure there are detractors, but when a pizza shop is absolutely packed with the phone ringing off the hook for decades, it says something.

As for the cheeseless--or plain as RI'ers call it--ther most certainly cheese in the sauce. It is a party pizza: something to munch on that doesn't get nasty when cold. If anything, it is best cold.

"These days, you can find decent, or even excellent, New York-style pizza in almost any medium-sized to large city in America," says Brooklyn-based writer Jeff Turrentine. "But finding even passable Chicago-style pizza outside of Chicago-that still poses a challenge."

That's because no one else wants Chicago Casserole.

neongoats: lennavan: FloydA: The best pizza in the world is made in my kitchen.  Everyplace else is inferior by several orders of magnitude.   If you disagree, it's either because you make your own pizza (in which case, we can call it a tie and commence trade negotiations) or because you are wrong and stupid and evil, because homemade is the best, so shut up and furthermore.

I made a margherita pizza with Big Boy tomatoes I grew in my backyard.  At least 100x better than store bought.

It's true what you say though, ever since I started making my own pizzas from scratch at home, I stopped buying anywhere else.  I can make a really farking good pizza for like $3, way better than frozen and at least as good as store bought.  The only reason not to is you don't know how, which if true, go google it.

Or, you know, time constraints. At least 80% of pizza's ubiquity is tied to the fact that you can get a whole meal delivered to you in 20 minutes or less, generally for less $ per portion than just about anything else but ramen.

The only ppl I know that make their own homemade pizza are stay at home dads and old Italian grandmas. Literally no other human has the time to roll some dough from scratch.

Like I said, the only reason not to is you don't know how.  It is amazingly clear you have no idea how to make pizza from scratch.  You think it's more expensive than delivery and you think it takes longer than 20 minutes or less.  You have no idea how to make pizza from scratch.

I'd be more than happy to give you advice and explain how to make it, if you're actually interested.  I'm sure FloydA also would as would a great number of other people.  But I'm guessing you're not actually interested, you just wanted to spout off some nonsense.
