Sbdolan: Great article, it actually went past 1985 in its list of "all time"

Considering the actual article was apparently written almost 8 years ago maybe that's not so surprising.

This article by Terri Schlichenmeyer is reprinted with permission from the March/April 2005 issue of mental_floss magazine.

Came to say this. Thanks.

PacManDreaming: People like grape flavored candy, gum, soda, Popsicles and the like, but no one seems to want grape cake, cookies, ice cream or pie.

Grape pie is a rarity because it's a real pain to make. I've actually had some that one of my aunts made, and it's delicious. The problem is that each grape that goes into the pie must be peeled - the skins don't go into the pie.

FTA: "The solution: foil-wrapped Reddi-Bacon you could pop into your toaster for piping-hot pork in minutes. "

I'm willing to give out piping-hot porks. Can last longer than minutes.

spamdog: That reminds me. I gotta go get a box of Space Food Sticks, so I can mindlessly mung on them while playing WoW tonight.

IrateShadow: I like cinnamon on my fries every now and then. Maybe not enough to buy a bag of them already prepared that way, but it brings a little something different to them when you're in the mood for it.

Isn't that pretty much what funnel cake or a churro is? Dough instead of potato I guess, but close enough...

I think the guy was talking more about grape flavored pie rather than pie made out of grapes.

Grape soda and Popsicles don't really taste like grapes. They're "grape" though.

Pretty much grape-flavored anything doesn't taste anything like grapes.

In the rare instance there's a new food product that has a "Grape Flavor", I'll check it out.  Artificial Grape, Orange, Cola, and Root Beer are my baseline for any drinks or candy that wants my money.  If you can screw up the most basic artificial flavors possible, then you deserve to fail.

PacManDreaming: DenisBergkamp: Coffee jello doesn't really turn me like the others do. I love coffee and most things coffee flavoured though it could be some kind of weird abomination that I'm thankful for never trying.

Ever notice that there are some flavors that just don't seem suited to certain food items? I mean, say grape flavoring for example. People like grape flavored candy, gum, soda, Popsicles and the like, but no one seems to want grape cake, cookies, ice cream or pie. We make strawberry and cherry and other fruit flavored versions of those desserts, so why not grape? I've thought about this for years and no one seems to have a satisfactory answer.

Hmmm...maybe I'll make a grape cake this weekend.

My mom bakes a fantastic grape pie
