"So many of those people are shams, they're not true conservatives. And we can see it now. They don't care about winning. They care about hate, resentment, selling books, talk radio, things that in the end keep us out of the White House for another generation."

But they are the true republicans. They do care about winning but they just don't see why the hate isn't working when it used to work so well.

The only problem the CPAC has is RINOs like Joe decrying a true grassroots teaparty movement. The real echo chamber are establishment RINOs and the radical liberal centrists who like to make the rounds on the various lamestream media talkshows.

"correct way"

WTF does that mean?
I thought the correct way to vote as a rep was to represent your constituents, or in the very least your conscience.

Guess I was wrong about that too.

1) "...failing to invite Governor Chris Christie (R-N.J) to the event."
2) "the line-up of speakers at CPAC, including Sen.Ted Cruz (R-Texas) and former Alaska governor Sarah Palin..."

One-two punch of huge mistakes.  Stop embracing the divisive losers in the party, and stop alienating the serious Republicans with a future at the same time.

Scarborough: Because apparently these days being a Republican is not about winning so maybe I should call myself a Republican in name only.

It sounds like the truth to me.

Fark off and die.

Honestly, I don't feel the least bit sad for GOProud.  After all, what's been their response to the party's shiatting on gays and lesbians?  As far as I can tell it's, "thank you, sir; may I have another?"

Yeah, pretty much.  The Republicans are playing the 'no true conservative' because they want to evade responsibility for where they are right now.  They all rode the train as far as it would go, and some of them still are because it's an easy buck to throw racist red meat to the hicks.  Now the train ride is ending, you got the shameless still pushing their shiat, and everybody else realizing how phony and violent it really is.

There is no saving the Republican Party.  It has run its course.  It has alienated everybody in its sad, pathetic quest to establish some kind of corporate theocracy.  Whatever the future holds, it does not involve the buzzwords of the 1980s, the sad armchair revolutionaries of the '90s, and the chickenhawk bigots of the '00s.

Only two groups will complain: The true cheap curmudgeons who talk about how wasteful everyone else is while relying on that wastefulness, and hipsters.

Regular thrift shoppers like me will be mildly inconvenienced for a while, but eventually some other trend will happen and all the clothes will find their way back. In fact, it will get better as more people know where to donate their old clothes when they start buying new again. Good times are ahead.

The Republican party isn't going anywhere, but then again, it's not going anywhere.

As long as a strong base of Republicans continue to distrust the media (a generalization, but evident in the rhetoric of the people they elect), their medieval intolerance towards any culture other than theirs will remain.  And as long as they hold onto the distrust they have towards education and science, they'll misplace trust in their local church leaders who keep crying about the barbarians at the gate.

The problem is, those barbarians at the gate are the sort of socially moderate Republicans from either coast who have the best chance of gaining independent voters, young voters, and ethnic voters.

2013-02-26 08:04:45 PM
Republican now means selling outrage, electoral consequences be damned, because there is good money to be made bilking their supporters out of millions.

Each loss gives them an opportunity to scream about oppression.  Why would they want to win?

CPAC jumped the shark when they moved it to National Harbor. Also Mitt Romney is the keynote speaker.

2013-02-26 08:31:39 PM
Wow, those comments at the bottom of the article fun.  The republican party is its own worst enemy right now.  Anytime a republican says anything that isn't critical of Obama, or a Tea Party-approved platitude, they are immediately cast down as a RINO and demonized.  We live in a country where our form of government requires some degree of compromise to function.  After all, if only one side gets everything they want, it's hardly a democracy anymore, is it?  The republican party seems to have forgotten that, now that compromise is seen as a weakness.

2013-02-26 08:34:46 PM

Really, GOProud and Log Cabin are gimp-style masochists, not even rising to the level of a beloved sub. They are essentially black KKK members or Jewish Nazis.

They love money, apparently, more than their brothers and sisters or their own self worth. And yet, they still aren't part of the 1%. They baffle, mystify, and anger me, and I'm straight!

They have them all over down by my job, in Westchester, NY - they have for the past year or so. It annoys the hell out of me every time I see one.  I have always been bugged by the dishonesty, but you make a good point about the laziness as well. .

Tough shiat, Joe. You can only play the "no true Scotsman" card so many times before you have to admit that you...yes you...are the odd man out.

You are stuck with these floor-humping mongoloids, like it or not. Forever. Sucks to be you.

No Huntsman, No Christie, No GOProud, No Log Cabin Republicans... frankly CPAC and the TEA Party are taking over the Republicans and making the tent so small that even if you agree with 99% if the platform, you're a heretic who should be banned for not agreeing with 100% of the platform.

You kinda do have to hand it to Republicans for reaching previously unimagined levels of self sabotage and incompetence.   They have the most popular governor in America in their party and what do they plan to utlize that?    I know!!    Let's not invite him to our biggest   pep rally, and see if we can shove him out of the party !!!!
