Fort Oglethorpe Detective James Leamon told CatoosaNews.com that Jonathan Cole Collins, 18, took bus No. 77 from the parking lot of Battlefield Primary School Feb. 1 and drove it eight miles to Chattanooga Valley Elementary School in neighboring Walker County.

"[Collins] stated that he had walked into Fort Oglethorpe from the Catoosa County Detention Center (a trip of about 6½ miles), and was getting tired. He saw the open bus door, the keys inside, and decided that he wasn't going to walk anymore," said Leamon.

So he had a total trip of 14 and a half miles to make, on foot? Shiat, I'd have stolen a bus too.

gregscott: meow said the dog: gregscott: Before you feel sorry for this guy for having to walk so far:
1. Consider the big smile on the mug shot. He misses prison food, or Bubba.
2. Consider that his mother, father, siblings and "friends" didn't care enough about him to pick him up when he was released. I am sure that says a lot about the kind of person he is.

I could pull the seven year murdering spree of various individuals and the family of me would still have the love for me because they are not dirtscumbaglicks such as perhaps you would be if you think this is the appropriate treatment of the person who has engaged of crime to suggest that it is the fault of he as the opposition of the fault of the others for the choices of these individuals to not be the kind people to he.

So if a scum bag murderer can be a nice enough guy to get a ride from his family or friends, doesn't that

suggest that this guy is way down the list of what a likeable guy might be? Perhaps he even ranks below me!

Or perhaps his family is one abusive shiat head father who used to pin him down in the middle of the night and make use of him in untoward ways and no one ever tried to help so he has developed a f* ck all attitude for a society that never stepped in to defend a helpless little boy?

None of you have any farking clue who this kid is so before you go spouting off nonsense about execution or dismemberment why dont you take a long look at yourselves and realize that the most common trait in criminals is the same lack of empathy you have so wonderfully exhibited in this thread.

Y'know would it really be that expensive for the jail to give released prisoners a ride into the nearest town if they don't have someone to pick them up?  Seems kind-a douchy to me...

Kid might be psychopathic.  He just doesn't seem to learn.

18 years old, no family, no friends, no money, no food, no house, no job.

What would you do?

Yeah no kidding.  By the time they get out, they are (in theory) rehabilitated.  I think the least we could do is get them somewhere to get restarted on their life.  Maybe a free bus pass for the day or something.

Here's my favorite part:

You know but it's cool to leave keys in their unlocked buses all other days.  Just not when this guy gets out.

Well, I guess he preferred it in prison. Certainly has a satisfied smile.

If his parents are abusive meth heads or something, then I can't really fault his logic, only his imagination.

Nicely done, local journalist person.

Yeah. It will be interesting to see how the apologists react when he rapes some 12 year old girl in front of her parents, and then kills them, and leaves her to die duct-taped to a tree 10 miles from anywhere.

But I am sure he's a good kid deep down, right?

You know what else would do the saving of money?  Executing the individuals with the high bills from the medical physician.  Know anyone like this?

"Apparently some people have a problem with this" IMO would have been a better headline ending

But that is just me, and I am a moran, so eh
