I'm familiar with that band and those songs, but I've never seen that artwork.

And I own every KC album up until at least a few years ago.

Weird.

And I've never heard Crimson in a strip club although there's a story that I've heard about Robert Fripp staying in a hotel one time and turning on some cheap-ass soft porn movie and they were using Lark's Tongue in Aspic (presumably part 2) as a soundtrack.

Needless to say he was not pleased that someone was ripping his music off without giving him royalties.

Speaking of KC stories, my favorite one is where a guy in a wheelchair went to a KC show. They wheeled him right up to the front and Fripp made sure he got a good spot and he sat there and enjoyed the show and when it was over he leaped out of his wheelchair and yelled "Robert Fripp has healed me!" And ran out of the concert hall with a tape deck that he had used to record it.

I dunno if that's actually true, but it's a fun story. Fripp hates bootleggers almost as much as he hates record companies.

This. I've been going to the same strip club for years. I've heard Cherry Pie and Closer countless times. Of the rest, maybe Brickhouse once or twice when some thick chick gets on stage. Eventually a song gets to played out for even the strip club to use.

Favorite strip club song? Prince: Darling Nikki

Strip clubs with DJs? Then what will the ladies do with all the quarters you give them?

By the way, off the top of my head I recall hearing "Hot Blooded" and "Ring My Bell." And some slow ballads for the juicy bits but by then I'd gone temporarily deaf, like the puppy does when she finds fresh cat shiat.

As a former strip club patron, I can also confirm this list.- and some of the others people have mentioned in this thread.

My favorite strip club song has to be November Rain, but that's only because I really dug the chick who gave me a lap dance to it.

And yeah - we left the club together. Was friends for a few years. I wish I had kept up with her. She was hotter than your average stripper.

List is pretty accurate, although the rap songs aren't quite as accurate. I also hear a lot of Rage Against the Machine (various songs), Marilyn Manson's cover of Tainted Love, and of all things AWOL Nation's Sail.

Among the few songs that surprised me, we have:

Minimalistix - Struggle For Pleasure (Filterheadz Remix)

Miss Kitten and the Hacker - Frank Sinatra

Sasha Ushuaia - Closing Party, Part 2

Honey Claws - Digital Animal (this only a few weeks after I'd initially heard it on Breaking Bad - needless to say, I was definitely stoked)

I shall add that to the list posthaste.

One of my friends dances to stuff like Gangnam Style or an accordion version of "Flight of the Bumblebee" when she doesn't feel like being on stage, just to annoy the customers, who are mostly old enough to be her grandfather.

Also "This is Halloween" from The Nightmare Before Christmas is in her year-round play list.

Knew a girl at this titty bar outside of Ft. Hood that would dance to that one, and Godsmacks "Go Away". She started out as a bartender there then became a dancer. Short little spinner type girl. Ahhh, memories.

As someone who is currently dating a stripper, I'm getting a kick out of this list... it needs more "Porn Star Dancing" though. That song is perfect for the club and she routinely dances to it. She's also danced to Rush's "Limelight" before when I was there because she knows that I'm a huge Rush geek. Surprisingly, it worked pretty well. There's also another girl I know at the club that routinely dances to Primus - "Jerry Was A Racecar Driver", "Laquor Head" and "Frizzle Fry".

I guess the moral of the story is that boobies go with almost ANY music/artist.

Can't read the list (blocked at word) but I have to assume that "Dirty Deeds, Done Dirt Cheap" is on it. I knew a stripper who did a dance to "Hotel California" which not being an Eagles fan almost made me into one.

If you want a weird, tough one to have them dance to, might I suggest "Sing, Sing, Sing" by Benny Goodman. The Carnegie Hall, live, 12 minute version. 1938. The song has more energy then most any stripper can muster. You are probably familiar with the song even if you don't know it yet.

Yeah, I stopped going to strip clubs a while ago aside from very rare occasions. Probably averaged about once every 3 years for the past decade, but when I did go Welcome to the Jungle and Girls, Girls, Girls were were quite popular.

I don't ever remember hearing Final Countdown though.

Those songs are kind of old now. I can't even remember what they played the last time I went to a strip club. I probably didn't even recognize most of the music.

What constitutes "old music" though? Last week I walked into a liquor store and Blister in the Sun by the Violent Femmes was playing. I said to the guy that I hadn't heard that in a while. He said "it's not an old song, but I haven't heard it in a while either". FFS, the song is 30 years old and that doesn't count as old yet?

I didn't bother to get into an argument, but what is old? Is Jailhouse Rock old? Are the Beatles old? What about Sonny and Cher? Or KC and the Sunshine Band? Or Foghat? .38 Special?

I'm not sure how old the guy who said that was, but I'm thinking he's at least 10 years younger than me if not 20 so that was a new song when he should have still been watching Sesame Street or maybe not even born yet.

Yeah, I'll say that song is old and probably even qualifies as "classic rock" by now even if that makes me feel even older.

Dammit, I remember when "classic rock" meant old Steppenwolf tunes and I refused to like bands like the Violent Femmes because I was too much of a hipster except we didn't call it being a hipster back then. But you gotta admit, Blister in the Sun is a good tune.

The story I've seen attached to it was her mother worked at Home Depot and had one last snow shovel to sell with a blizzard inbound. Guys were waving cash at her for it.

It has been a few years since I have been to strip clubs butJocelyn Enriquez - A Little Bit of Ecstasy used to be played quite regularly

2013-02-26 03:31:39 PM

mcmnky: NashMcNash: As a former strip club DJ, I can confirm that this list is accurate.  The only difference is, I used to play the Rob Zombie version of Brick House, instead of the Commodores.

Even the 2 live crew?

Yeah, I remember playing it a few times.  Not nearly as much as some of the others.  Always did a shiat-ton of Poison, Def Leppard, that sort of stuff.  For the most part, guys don't give a shiat, so I'd play whatever the girls wanted.  The worst is when some guy thinks he's at a party and starts requesting stuff.

2013-02-26 03:33:51 PM
It's mostly all hip hop/rap these days.

Or so I've been told.

Buckcherry "Crazy Biatch" every damn time.  Song sucks so hard...like a crazy biatch

2013-02-26 04:04:39 PM
I fell in love with a stripper who danced to 'Eye in the Sky' by the Alan Parsons Project. She seemed soooo relevant at the time.

GypsyJoker: Quite possibly the best tune for stripping:  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YeawPUpTHJA

Goldfrapp's "Strict Machine."  Strange video; awesome tune.

So here's maypole dancers

2013-02-26 04:11:02 PM

KatjaMouse: I always thought these would make good stripper songs myself:

Angel - Massive Attack
The Hop - Radio Citizen

Thanks for reminding me:

"Be Thankful For What You've Got"

NSFW Vid - It's a stripper, stripping.

I thought the standard stripper song was "More Human Than Human"

2013-02-26 05:10:21 PM
My favorites were always Sabotage and Like a Prayer.  That list missed the most horrible song EVER to show up at a club, though...  "So Fresh and So Clean"  *shudder*

2013-02-26 05:23:30 PM
"Stripper Girl" by Steel Panther.

/Stripper girl, you're the best
//Up all night on crystal meth

2013-02-26 05:36:22 PM
you go to the strip club and listen to the music when *I* dj

let's see...

godsmack Awake
Alice Cooper Welcome To My Nightmare  (I'm more of a lighting guy, so whoever did this one would get a SHOW)

Rob Zombie.. half his catalog
Same with Manson

I would never play Cherry Pie or Every Rose- they just plain suck.

adding to the list...

Enigma, Sadeness, Return to Innocence
Tool, Prison Sex as mentioned earlier

so many girls wanted to hear Prince's Pussy Control... I told them to tell me what it was about and I would play it. None of them got it right, so, I refused to play it.

Rammstein... Let Me See You Stripped, Du Hast

Kid Rock Cowboy, but anyone who requested that abortion of a song he did with Sheryl Crow would get a frowney face from me

Prodigy Smack My Bitach Up

Kiss, Domino (every damn time it's the same damned thing... that biatch bends over, I forget my name...lol)

Joe Walsh, ILBT

I would open the night with either a live version of Queensyche's Lady Wore Black, or Glen Frey's Smuggler Blues, which is the club owner's favorite song.

2013-02-26 05:42:56 PM
I once saw a stripper do a three song set entirely off Gowan's Strange Animal album!?

2013-02-26 05:56:10 PM

bikerbob59: No Buck Cherry?

2013-02-26 05:57:05 PM
A couple more:

Aerosmith-Ragdoll
Sir-Mix-A Lot-Baby Got Back

2013-02-26 06:20:33 PM

KatjaMouse: I always thought these would make good stripper songs myself:

The Hop - Radio Citizen

This times a million!

Especially Angel...even the wife said that would be an awesome stripper song when that album first came out.

2013-02-26 06:24:51 PM
Wow, how long did it take that author to write that article?  Talk about some old songs.

2013-02-26 06:30:48 PM
It's obvious I haven't been in a club in a long time, I only recognize two of the ten. Oregon clubs are boring.

2013-02-26 06:53:47 PM
A lot of good old NIN songs mentioned. Saw a girl dance to "Something I can Never Have" one night in San Diego. I thought it was an awesome choice but her boss was not amused.

2013-02-26 07:04:18 PM

hundreddollarman: "Stripper Girl" by Steel Panther.

/Stripper girl, you're the best
//Up all night on crystal meth

So much this. Also, anything from Appetite for Destruction.

2013-02-26 07:30:07 PM
I've never heard any of those songs in a strip club.

/Gucci Manes' Freaky Gurl is the best ever...only in a strip club though.

2013-02-26 07:39:29 PM
How about Damn Yankees, "Coming of Age"...Wow, I need to get back to a boob bar soon. Been ages!

2013-02-26 07:49:33 PM
Years ago, I read on Fark that David Lee Roth's "Sensible Shoes" should have been on that list.

2013-02-26 08:37:29 PM
Expected NIN 'Closer' and Rob Zonbie 'Living Dead Girl' or.. More Human, Than Human (still my favorite memory of a girl dancing ever is to more human...)

2013-02-26 08:45:22 PM
Do they not play Black Velvet anymore?

2013-02-26 08:46:51 PM
Still no sex in the Champagne room...

2013-02-26 08:47:32 PM
No 'Crazy biatch' by Buckcherry? No 'Hot For Teacher' by Van Halen?

List fails.

2013-02-26 08:56:35 PM

John Buck 41: No 'Crazy Biatch' by Buckcherry? No 'Hot For Teacher' by Van Halen?

List fails.

Aarrgghh. Should've read all the posts first.

Prince demands a recount.

Darling Nikki (already mentioned)
Vanity Six - Nasty Girl
Erotic City
It
etc.

2013-02-26 09:29:42 PM
Surprised no one linked  Calling Sister Midnight. But if the DJ starts playing this, run don't walk to the nearest exit.

2013-02-26 09:52:44 PM
For some reason, this is the first song I think of when I think of strippers.
INXS- Never Tear Us Apart

2013-02-26 10:25:21 PM
Hungry Eyes by Eric Carmen works surprisingly well also.

CSB:
About 15 years ago, my buddy was DJ'ing at a strip club in Center City Philadelphia, and I was there as his "assistant." New girl, first few days in the business, had just started working there. Customarily, the girls would give a few of their tips to the DJ, not a lot, just maybe $5-$10 per set. This girl wasn't having any of it. "I'm the one dancing out there, why should I give you any of my money." So after three sets with no tip he told her to just pay attention to her next set and she'd see why tipping the DJ is important.

Next set he made her dance to The Peanuts theme -"Linus and Lucy" from the Charlie Brown Christmas Album. 3 times.
Obviously she tipped him after that.

End CSB.

2013-02-26 10:50:41 PM
Undressed To Kill - Jethro Tull

2013-02-26 10:55:34 PM

Onkel Buck: I was at a "gentlemens club" one night and the dancer did her set to "Prison Sex" by Tool. I tipped her heavily. I'll reward any stripper that is going to put a little thought into her music and try and be original and dance to something different rather than 10 stand bys listed in TFA.

Pretty awesome. Don't do the strip clubs but got no problem with em. Good for her to think a little dirge metal would be a good idea.

...now release the new goddam album fer chrissakes!

2013-02-26 11:05:30 PM

CujoQuarrel: It's mostly all hip hop/rap these days.

Or so I've been told.

The place I go is just outside Gary, Indiana. There are two clubs, perhaps a mile from each other. They are segregated by clientele, though the staff at both are racially integrated.

The club I visit is owned by a large corporation. The DJs are not allowed to play rap or hip hop except from a narrow list of approved tracks, and country music is in the normal rotation. I'm told that the alcohol selection and pricing is also a bit different to discourage the, er, urban customer as well.
I'm not sure if it's tactic racism on behalf of the customer base of a management decision, but it's pretty obvious that the difference exists.

2013-02-26 11:10:09 PM
I have sometimes considered trying to start my own strip club, just so I could force the DJ to stop playing the shiatty 80's music listed in TFA.  Only newer bands like Morcheeba, NIN, Portishead, Stars, Nico Vega, Metric, etc.

2013-02-26 11:32:07 PM
I've never heard of half of the songs in the list

2013-02-27 12:04:09 AM
A girl dancing to Passenger by the Deftones, among the best damn experiences of my life.

Just_a_Bear: I've never heard of half of the songs in the list

That's ok. You'll get older and one day, and that day comes far far too soon, you'll run into people half your age who have never heard of half of the music you grew up with too.

2013-02-27 12:34:35 AM

Hungmung: A girl dancing to Passenger by the Deftones, among the best damn experiences of my life.

the stripper I bang gets naked every time she hears Deftones  :)

I'm going to DJ Thursday night... gonna load down the 'puter with Steel Panther (Asian Hooker!! The Shocker, and Fat Girl (Thar She Blows)... lol)

this thread made me miss DJing the strip clubs  :)

Depends on the club and the 'Champagne room'

Guess I should have prefaced that this happened years ago when I was in the service and hung out in titty bars in Hinesville, Ga/Ft Stewart a lot.
Yes release a damn album already!

/Bo'maz FTW!

CujoQuarrel: tom baker's scarf: Still no sex in the Champagne room...

That is actually very true.

Sometimes there is sex in the "champagne room", but it will cost you more than a lap dance.

List fails without...........

Stranglehold - Ted Nugent
She's A Beauty - The Tubes

2013-02-27 11:12:05 AM

JohnnyCanuck: Warrant's, "Cherry Pie" must be on that list.  Did not rtfa, but I think I heard that every time I ventured into a peeler bar...usually in Quebec.

\my GF recently filled her car's USB drive with a bunch of old 80s/90s stuff for some reason. She's been singing and wiggling to that song for a week or so now. She actually has some pretty good stripper moves.

I'm an oldie but i recall a day when Phil Collins "in hte air tonight" and Ac/dc you shook me all night long ruled the peeler bars.

also in the quebec theme the dj's in la belle province would usually introduce the dancer with " Madams et Monsieurs please put your ands togedder for....    Angele"

2013-02-27 04:43:57 PM

Cream of Meat: I can tell there's no black people on fark or Juicy J - Bands A Make Her Dance would have been listed already.

I concur. Might I add Rick Ross "Bag of Money" and Tyga "Bouncin' On My Dick".

/White

No Van Halen or ZZ Top?  an incomplete list.

/i used to hate the 1:30 am "Purple Rain/HC" combo on a Monday night
//former bartender at a titty club

2013-02-28 07:13:06 AM
The thrift culture here in Portland was cool way before some stupid rap song. You've probably never heard of it.
