Elvis_Bogart: This had little to do with MacFarlane.  These Oscars were for movies that people actually saw and cared about.

Yeah. This was one of the best 'Best Picture' slates since the still-epic one in 1994. People watched because of that. I mean...5 prior winners all up at the same time for 'Best Supporting Actor'? I watched in  spite of MacFarlane, not  because of him.

I thought MacFarlane was great. I mean, really great. I honestly thought he could continue to be the host for years to come. I don't get what people didn't like.

I missed it Sunday but watched the opening monolgue on Hulu last night after reading the bad reviews. I thought he was funny, and the supposedly controversial "We Saw You Boobs" number was, in context, freaking hilarious. Oh, well. Haters gonna hate.

/who knew JGL had the potential to be a song and dance man
//already knew Daniel Radcliffe has been on Broadway in How To Suceed

It's really too bad if he doesn't want to do another hosting gig for the Academy Awards. Hopefully he'll change his mind. I really enjoyed it.

If he does it again, I'm hoping he would keep his edge and Hollywood welcomes him back knowing he's a comedian doing his job. As Ben Affleck said in his speech, Hollywood is a town where you can't hold grudges. I get the impression that everybody insults everybody in that town eventually because they choose not to work with somebody, choose a different project (possibly one that insults somebody), refuse because the money isn't there, refuse because a story isn't what they want to do, or just plain refuse to do a project.

I thought Seth did a nice job.

I think Wayne Brady would make an excellent Oscar host.  I wonder if they've considered him?  He's a great host and also does the song/dance thing.

It's all just a matter of time until they finally give it to NPH.

This could have been the worst year for movies since 2005, so that probably wasn't it.

Suck on it, haters.

I admit I am envious.  If I could sell shiat for the amount of money he does, I'd be pretty happy.

i thought he did a good job, but then i watched walking dead instead. why are people mad at him? cuz he made a boob joke? that was hilarious.

SlothB77: The people that like Seth MacFarlane comedy and the people that watch the Oscars have very little overlap.  He brought in a new audience, but offended the base.

I think my favorite part was watching all of the distinguished actresses blush when he mentioned which movies they got naked in.

You realize they were aware of it right?  Like when they showed Charlize Theron in her seat all "distressed" and two seconds later she was on stage dancing around...

i have 2 hypotheses:
1) its a manufactured viral campaign to get more publicity
2) every feminist in california was menstrauting that night

C'mon people... The man is BRILLIANT... I mean... did you catch that whole 'The Jews run Hollywood' bit with the talking bear and Marky Mark?   I mean, talk about original, funky fresh comedy...

Quality judgements aside, that talking bear and Marky Mark grossed over half a billion at the box office.

So what I've gotten from this thread is that if you've grown out of MacFarlane's humor you're obviously jealous, movies that make a huge amount of money are good cause they made money and people are too stupid to realize that the actresses were in on the we saw your boobs skit.

I think the Muppets should host next year.

DKinMN: I think the Muppets should host next year.

That is the perfect idea.  Everyone loves the Muppets, no one could get butthurt about it, and best of all, it would still manage to take down the self-importance of the event a couple of notches.

I had no idea who this guy was. Had to google. Watched about 5" of the show.

Who the fark tunes in because of who the host is? Ok, I might watch if they brought Bob Hope or Johnny Carson back.

I would never watch an awards show willingly. I did tune in for a few minutes to see Seth though. He was doing alright from what I saw, but the awards show part just made me change the programming.

Also someone earlier mentioned Jimmy Kimmel. Id tune into a Jimmy Kimmel hosted awards show to see him. Maybe 2 or 3 other people I can think of , but Id tune in for them.

/Dave Chapelle, Chris Farley in his prime, and Steven Wright

I hate how the sheep bleat when the "in" thing is everywhere you look.
My life is fine, however I don't have to accept mediocre entertainment just because of herd mentality.

LOL biatch please, you're so far gone into the herd mentality of "hate every damn thing" on fark you probably couldn't dig yourself out if your balls depended on it.  If you've even still got a pair.

Sweet Jayma Mays, this guy has some issues with Seth Mcfarlane.

http://blogs.suntimes.com/shales/2013/02/captain_kirk_was_right.html

I mean i know humor is subjective, but to say Seth can't sing? Now you're just too angry to think straight

I actually pulled a muscle cringing.

The only thing more pathetic than spending an evening stargazing at celebrities patting themselves on the back, is living vicariously through a shiatty hack comedy writer.

I mean, being a fanboy of a self-indulgent, blubbering vagina like MacFarlane? Jesus Christ, the pussification of this generation is indeed strong.

The reaction shots were staged.

Its disturbing how many people were unable to understand this.

You mean Jennifer Lawrence's reaction wasn't spontaneous?

No. But the part with Gidget was real.

It was A LOT easier hearing the sometimes bad/immature jokes coming from the mouth of a sexy, charming man dressed in a tux than from Peter Griffin or a talking bear.

I really love how his performance showcased his singing talent. He really needn't try so hard to be funny though. Still really enjoyed it and never realized how hot he is.

Did nobody not realize that the clips of the actresses were from precious award shows?

Your argument is invalid.

They're fine, thank you.
You can continue to bleat at Seth.

He's a funny guy.  That's the thing, I don't have to fall over myself to think he's funny, but I'd be willing to bet you almost broke a finger coming in here to hate on him.  How many posts you got in this thread son, ten?  I'd be willing to bet you've posted in here more than anyone else, and it was just to spread your bullshiat around.

And it's funny you automatically gotta call people sheep though.  I guess if I'm a sheep for thinking a comedian is funny, that makes you mutton for biatching about it right?

Ya know, mutton.  A castrated old sheep who isn't worth shiat except to sit in a stew pot.

And yet you responded. And all you have is an imaginary scenario that probably sounded funny in your head.
I guess I could accuse you of multiple posts, after all, you only did what I did, respond directly.
That would be lame though.
Yeah, Seth was funny, however the shark has been jumped.
Don't get so worked up though, bel, Seth won't slip you the tongue.
Enjoyed the conversation, try not to get too worked up on post count. This thread was mostly dead anyway.
