Smartphones are becoming the new Werner compensation device.

/Only applies to manufacturers, not consumers
//No I amd NOT going to get one, but only cuz I feel app-locked into iOS.

I have seen for a while the blurring of the lines between phones, tablets, laptops and desktops.

Soon all our devices will be the one we talk on, chat on, watch youtube on, facebook on and twitter on.

Then at last the public will not compute again. People with REAL computers will be a class apart once more!

Yeah sure, you play angry birds but can you program it?

Just give me a 4 inch screen. 3.7 or 3.8 is fine too.

I'll be honest, this is one of the primary reasons why I use (and like) my iPhone. I have short fingers.
I also have a rather large music collection, so 64gb is just right for me.

That's about it. So who cares?

No, they aren't, no matter how many times people try to push that line.  Consumers want variety and this is driving diversification of the mobile ecology.  Manufacturers are simply putting out different models to see what appeals most to the consumer.

That said, I will admit that I've had more than a few ladies compliment me on the size of my Note 2.

Ok give me a 6" smart phone, that docks into the back of a 10" tablet or into a desktop setup with a dual monitor setup, keyboard and mouse with a CPU interface.

I'm totally happy with a 3.5" screen, and hope those continue to be available. Larger ones just have trouble fitting in my pocket, and I don't want to start carrying a man-purse around.

Though I could see how this might be desirable if I didn't have to worry about carrying things in my pockets... I imagine some women would love to have this in their purse, and can just use a bluetooth headset with it so they don't look ridiculous holding it to their ear.

KoolerThanJesus: The Dell Streak did soooooooo well.

My Dell Streak had a 5" screen, minus the unusable bezel space.  A little small for tablet duty.  It's already been outdone by the Samsung Galaxy Note II which has a 5.5" higher res screen that goes edge-to-edge, no bezel and in a smaller form factor than the Streak.  I feel like I could really go for a bit more screen space actually, 6" would be cool.

I'm tall (so my pockets are bigger) and my eye sight is going, so these things are pretty great for me.  I don't give a shiat how they look, I'm not buying a phone for other people to admire

As I type this on my Nexus 7, I can't imagine actually holding a 7" phone up to my head. However, if you gave it a cellular connection, I could leave it in a cargo pocket and use a Bluetooth headset. But it would pretty much require guys to wear cargo pants, or carry a backpack around. My S3 is already tight in my jeans.

Then you're clearly doing it wrong.

Forget the sports car; mobile electronics are apparently the new "sorry about your penis" meter.

Fun fact: in some countries any smart phone over 7 inches isn't considered to be a telephone (in the same way that a PC with skype isn't a telephone). Therefore it is harder for companies to justify a tax free supply of the device to employees as a business expense. The device would need to be used at least 90% for company purposes, otherwise the value of the device is taxed at the same rate as a "bonus." To not miss out on the "as large as possible smartphone" market Asus is now producing 7 inch telephones.

/The only figure I'm sure about is the 7 inch
//The rest is what I somewhat remember

I have that same tablet, and the idea of it being a phone is a bit crazy.

That's not what ergonomics means.  The ergonomics of a 7' phone work just fine. and those of us who use them don't give a shiat how you think it looks because we're not sheep who think that phones are fashion accessories.  How about if you enjoy looking hip and successful, I'll enjoy having a device with a screen that's actually useful, and we can all just get along?

It's great.  If someone you don't want to see walks into the coffee shop, you hide your entire face behind it.

Hobbess: But it would pretty much require guys to wear cargo pants, or carry a backpack around. My S3 is already tight in my jeans.

Inside coat pocket and back pocket of jeans work fine too.  But I usually carry a bag when I go out anyway.
