Shouldn't this be a Scary tag?

Chicken that's too low-grade not only for KFC. . .but for the PRC?

I'm scared of what would be reject chicken in mainland China.

Freshly Prepared Chemically Enhanced Chicken is far worse than Freshly Prepared Right Side Window Problems

I'm more worried that it's inferior by Chinese standards than by KFC standards.

They still call that KFC biological matter "chicken meat"?
Methinks they didn't run this by the legal department.

This sucks.  KFC is really popular in China and normally seen as one of the "safe" places to eat if you're a westerner and don't know which local places to trust.  KFC has been my go to place when I land somewhere and don't anyone who can vouch for a local place.

/Once I was arrogant to think I had enough experience in China to judge a place without checking with the locals first

Silverstaff: I'm scared of what would be reject chicken in mainland China.

That's assuming the Chinese government (or the local governments) aren't just harassing or singling out KFC branches to sow distrust of Western restaurants.  You really can't tell what's political in China and what's not.  (Hint: everything is political.)

China? I'm surprised there was actual chicken involved, and not just deep fried lumps of lead.

2013-02-26 11:05:06 AM
Well everything seems to be inferior quality in China, from their products to the quality of their air.

2013-02-26 11:14:16 AM
Huh, I'm just surprised they use chicken.  Whenever I've been to Asia, just as a rule of thumb, I assume 50% of what I'm being fed is dog or cat, no matter what the menu says.

Does KFC use gay chickens? Cause I heard Chick-fil-A doesn't use gay chickens for their chicken.

unrelated TSB

I was at KFC the other day and had just ordered my food and was waiting off to the side.  The lady behind me gets to the counter and says

"I'm not sure what I want."

A guy further back in the line said "It's fu**in' chicken, you either want some or you don't."

I laughed.

How do people even "live" in that shiathole? The air is toxic, the food is toxic, the water is most likely corrosive and the people keep multiplying.

..... the mind, it wobbles.

As long as they got the biscuits with the hole in the middle you can pour the maple syrup into, I'm good.

The last time I ate at KFC there was a big black pube in the mashed potatoes. They were delicious, and the pube made good floss afterwards.

I miss the Hillary meal deal at KFC.  Two giant thighs, 2 small breasts, and a stale left wing.

Um, no.  But thanks for trying.  Popeye's is quite possible the only worse chicken out there.  And I regularly eat gas station food.

My folks live in Shanghai and its a great city.

Of course, they get to live like spoiled laowai, I couldn't imagine living like a local.

False. Popeye's reigns supreme in the fast food fried chicken market. Their chicken is more flavorful, their biscuits are way better and Dr. John is bare none the best damn fried chicken jingle singer.

/Love that chicken from Popeye's...

Disagree. I lived in china for a year and when I hot depressed I would eat KFC. It was better there than in the states particularly the chicken sandwich and popcorn chicken.

They probably use cats.

Proof that when a multinational corporation's profits are on the line, getting real information from news services is like pulling teeth (next fark story: Human Teeth Found in KFC Chicken Batter).

Read through the whole boring Reuter's article, and the only details about the bad chicken they came forward with is that the investigation "focused on chemical residue found in a small portion of its chicken supply."

A Google search led me to a related Wall Street Journal article from January (which Fark won't let me link to because of WSJ's paywall), from which I learned that "the Shanghai Food and Drug Administration said on Dec. 20 that eight out of 19 batches of chicken samples Yum sent to labs for testing in 2010 and 2011 had higher than acceptable levels of antibiotics." Eight out of 19 batches seems to me a lot more than "a small portion," but I still don't know which antibiotics they are talking about and what the hazards of human consumption of these antibiotics are. Since I have no reason to visit China in the foreseeable future, and no desire to eat at any Yum Brands restaurant no matter where I am, I'm giving up the search at this point.

You probably got a bad piece or two, Popeyes is usually pretty good. However, it does pale in comparison to Bojangles, so I can see why some might be confused.
