Oh, good. So I'm not the only who immediately thought of this.

The snow here is extremely wet and sticky. We have 7.3" and over 3000 people without power in Columbia...

Pfft... amateurs. We see that several times a year and it never makes national news.. of course events from Podunkville rarely even make local news.

I have coworkers from up north and they agree it is a bit different when it happens here. Nobody has snow tires, not everyone has a 4WD vehicle that can handle snow, plus we have a bunch of students who have crappy cars or ride buses (no underground tunnels to get to class at our University). And clearly you have different trees that don't fall down when they get covered in snow and buried power lines that aren't so easily destroyed.

I'm bummed that work refuses to just call the whole thing off for the day. I keep getting calls telling me to come in later and later.

I'd *love* to work for a company that takes the day off when it snows. I was here until 11pm last night babysitting the SuperStormSnowCoverage2000 and scraping the snow off of sat dishes.

It's definitely a lifestyle choice to be this far north. We have a large amount of foreign students at our univ and it's funny to watch their expressions the first time they get out into one of our squalls. You can almost hear them thinking "WTF did I get myself into?"

Unless it affects 30 Rockefeller Center and their car service, the Talking Heads take no notice.

If it heats the Northeast Corridor, then it's all OMG!! End of the World. Save your cats! Get extra blankets.  Call a preist!! OMG!!

In Joplin, about 4 inches on the ground, major streets are clear but everyone is canceling. Farking wimps.

Arrrrggghhhhh!  I forgot to stock up on booze!  Does anybody know how fast you can make prison wine?  I have 2 packages of yeast...  Arrrrhggggghghghgh!

Seriously? a few inches of snow is the end of the world? Living in the snow belt of Cleveland, wake me up when you have 20"+ in a day, then more the next day.

I'm sooooo sick. 104 temp since Friday. Doc days it's flu and just drink plenty of fluids and stay warm.

Stupid ibuprofen isn't breaking it yet, and I'm sure that work is thinking I'm cheating them out of a work day because of snow.

I just want to be warm.

5 days at 104?  I'd get a different doctor.

It went from no snow to "oh look, there goes a snowflake" to whiteout conditions in about 15 minutes here north of Chicago.

My favorite part, is that the keyword voodoo magic of this thread using "Blizzard" caused a banner to appear up top for StarCraft II's new expansion.
