There is absolutely NO WINNING by ever bringing up the drone program - any part of it. For better or worse, for real reasons or "OMG!", people cannot rationally discuss drones. Best to leave it alone.

The two biggest stains on Obama's record are the drone program and his refusal to deny that he has the authority to assassinate Americans on US soil.

It's "on US soil" now? I thought the butthurt was over killing American citizens on foreign soil who have directly allied themselves with enemies.

The former White House press secretary revealed Sunday that he had explicit instructions while serving as President Obama's top spokesman not to say a peep about the government's secretive drone program.

You mean he was told not to release classified information to the 6 o'clock news? Well, agree with the drone program or not, but that warrants a hale and hearty 'NO shiat!'.

Doesn't matter. Anything that makes wingnut blowhards admit that human rights are an actual thing firmly entrenched in American values can't be all bad.

I think the problem is that the Tea Party has spent so much time crying "WOLF!" that we're all completely jaded when this administration does something that is maybe worthy of checking into for ethical reasons.

So, congrats, Teabaggers: your repeated, weak attacks have actually vaccinated the president against anything that could be a real issue. At this point, you could have a real picture of him shiatting on an American flag and we wouldn't believe you, because we've seen those photoshops before.

It was never a thing outside of the Derp Brigade.

Brennan was repeatedly asked if the president can order the killing of an American in the US. Brennan dodged the question every time.

the U.S. Government does what its Corporate and wealthy Owners tell it to do.

and that is not to discuss Drones.  they don't exist.

we have to keep the little people "free".  and, of course, the wealthy are a skiddish bunch and need protection. they need to feel safe and secure. Domestic Drones will help them do that.

I'm assuming it's because subby feels dodging these questions is super awkward and not worth the job?

Show me a winning republican candidate that will end the program and not insert wands in my daughter's vagina and i'll vote for that imaginary person.

I hope you're not seriously suggesting that because a hugely important topic is uncomfortable and you can't win with it politically that we should just not talk about it.

I'm suggesting that that's why the Press Secretary would avoid it. I'm not saying that the public should ignore and not discuss it.

I guess I am saying that most of that discussion is ignorant and fruitless, but at least it's something.

That's a good reason for passing on the job of Press Secretary.  But why pass on the "cushy TV job offer?"

He and his party tried to separate the good parts of the Patriot Act from the bad ones and let them expire. Republicans did not let that pass. So that's on them.

I won't blame one particular politician for the War on Drugs. When someone comes along who will stand against it,  I'll give them full props but right now, there's no political upside. I can't mark against a man for not being any braver then anyone around him.

As for drones: i dont' give a crap if Pakistan and the Yemen are angry. They root out the terrorists before us, we wouldn't need to do this. I have no moral qualms. THey don't want death over their heads? Fix their own houses.

And the other comment: Every US president has had people killed. 100% assured. I hold no illusions about power. People have died at the direct command of Barack Obama. But they have at every president.

Yup. Okay with me. Go ahead and use drones, if you want.

Arguably, those are the biggest, but not the only ones.
