I used to believe in that kind of crap until I actually lived in different places.  Now that I live in New York (originally from Texas),  I realize how untrue that is.  After all, I see beautiful people from all over the world here on regular basis.

Ironically, I lived in New Mexico for 4 years.  In short, those are some of the ugliest people I have ever lived  with.

Southwest, Subby. Big difference. (Well, Southwest and part of the South. And Delaware and DC.)

Though, harking back to yesterday's map thread, the South is distinguished by its high rate of sexually-transmitted diseases. So there's that.

Don't forget how super young they start at it too!  They start having kids really young and never stop.   I remember living in Santa Fe and seeing all of these 16-18 year old girls walking along the street with two kids in tow.  Contrast that to the north east.  Here people have two kids in their thirties and forties.

So that map is based on STD transmission rates?  Most STDs are not deadly and can be easily treated now.

I would say this map is more a map of large amounts of unsafe sex AND poor medical treatment, rather than an actual map of people just farking.

The stats don't say "Unwanted Teen Pregnancy Rate".

Though you do realize that Boston is an even bigger college town than Austin (contrary to what Spinal Tap might think)?  I have never lived there so I won't say for sure about Boston though.  I have lived in Austin and will say that it puts up some very tough competition.

Where did you get that Texas only teaches abstinence sex ed?  All 4 of my kids, 1 of which is still in highschool,learned sex-ed including birth control in every grade since middle school.

So states with large populations of African-Americans, Hispanics, or Native-Americans have large teen birth rates?  I'm shocked... shocked!   Maybe one day the government will make available the tools to stop this problem.

It probably does vary district to district, but the vast majority of schools in Texas don't provide comprehensive sex ed. Your kids got lucky.

I think the parents are to blame regardless of what the school teaches. Anyone who doesn't provide a means for their kid to access birth control from the moment they hit puberty is an idiot. Teenager like having sex, it's not like you suddenly start liking sex when you graduate high school.
