FTFA:Not sure what Burnside was smoking last week putting the Bruins fifth. The Bruins are the cream of the East, bar none. Only the fact that they've played fewer games is delaying their eventual ascent to first place.

None of us know what Burnside is thinking ever. That man is clearly brain damaged.

Would be nice if they saved some of that for the playoffs.  Then again the 'Hawks could be playing out the Miami Heat's playbook from last season:  Go all out from minute one.  Don't let up, tear their hearts out.

I was pleased with that outcome.

Really ESPN? Really?

Vancouver with their 10 wins and 8-3 bed-sh*tting in Detroit stay in fourth, while Pittsburgh and their 13 wins fall to 6th?

Really?

At least having a Sabres-fan friend gives me someone to look down on during this scrappy Caps season.

Wouldn't mind the Hawks lifting the Cup again. Though, as long as it isn't a Pennsylvania team, I'll be good.

If the Bruins fix their power play they are as good as any team in the league.  Chara's spin goal yesterday was old school beauty.

ESPN just doesn't 'get' hockey. I don't understand why they're the power rankings Fark uses. SI or TSN would be so much better.

They had awful power play a couple of years back and still won the dammed Cup

If the Blackhawks have a "problem", this is theirs, too.  They often have trouble getting in the offensive zone to set up (especially when pressed heavily in the neutral zone and at the blue line), and even once they do get set up, nobody shoots...they just dance the puck around the perimeter for 30 seconds.

I understand that you don't always have a shooting lane, but if you don't shoot, you can't score.  Obviously.

Rock bottom, woooo!

Sabres tank season.  Team needs to be blown up and started over from picks, prospects, and young players, with a new coach (done) and new GM (coming next).  Hope to see a real good firesale at the trade deadline.

The only question is Seth Jones or Nathan MacKinnon this summer.

You can have him.  He's been Buffalo's 2nd-worst regular defenseman this year (after the trainwreck named Jordan Leopold).

The defense as whole has been terrible, so Regehr has really had to work hard to distinguish himself as especially bad among this lot.

The Calgary Flames re-signed Cory Sarich.

I repeat, RE-SIGNED CORY SARICH.

No matter what shape Regehr is in, he's better than Sarich.

Heh, good luck with that.

Darcy Regier:  "Hi Mr. other team's GM, would you be interested in Player X?"
Other GM:  "Hmmmm, he's not bad, he could probably slot into our third line quite nicely in fact.  What's his cap hit?"
Regier:  "Ummm.....gotta go bye!"

I'm not sure why they dropped the Ducks to third - they're also racking up lots of wins. Strength of opponents, perhaps?

Nope.

I was thinking it, but I didn't say it.

Besides, the longer their current streak goes, the shorter they'll have to come out of the funk when it breaks -- so, Go Hawks!

I'm surprised to see the Blues move back up a couple of spots.  They didn't do so hot against San Jose or Colorado this week, and pulling out a win against Columbus isn't anything to crow about.  Then again, I kinda like them just rolling along at the upper middle of the pack right now - hopefully the rest this week will get them set up for Chicago instead of making them forget how to play hockey.

It's because Winnipeg is still being forced to play in the Southeast division. The new "conferences" are primarily concerned with travel distance, less maintaining current alignments. As long as it keeps Montreal and Boston together I approve.

Even thinking a team stands a chance of going undefeated the whole season is moronic.  This is coming from a Hawks fan who knows it's not going to happen.

Late season slump or not, the points they've racked up so far will allow some slipping here and there throughout the rest of the season.

I wouldn't go so far to say they'll miss the playoffs -- that does seem unlikely. However, if they lose the team chemistry, then they won't be seeing Round 2.

Wooooooooo SABRES!  We're number 1!  We're number 1!

Le sigh.  They should've thrown Regier out with Lindy.  I love both of those guys, but they completely lost this team in the last couple years.  I blame Michael Peca.  I'm excited for a redo, but it kills me to watch them waste Miller's prime by letting all the teams they face shell him like Belleau Wood.

Pittsburgh is lucky to be in sixth. They can't hold a two or more goal lead or they can't produce any offense and score only one goal and lose. Philadelphia and New Jersey push them all over the ice.

And while they will probably finish in the top four of the conference it will be another first round exit because Bylsma has studied at the Bruce Boudreau School of Playoff Hockey.

Only Washington has underachieved more than Pittsburgh over the last three seasons, and even that is arguable.

Flappyhead: Meh, winning is winning.  I won't begrudge them for it, even if their current playing style could cure insomnia.

Kind of lacking in the flash dept due to all the skilled guys being hurt, but they still get lots of shots and create chances. Not boring compared to, say, Montreal vs NYR on Saturday, with a grand total of 35 shots.

8-8-7-7 is retarded unless they have some sort of cross over rule for making playoff spots.

If they did have a crossover rule, WTF is the point of these conferences anyway?

15 in the East, 15 in the West, top 8 in each make it.

Jesus f*cking Christ, NHL, this isn't hard. Why do you always come up with the dumbest solution to every problem?

Even with a short 48 game season all I can do looking at them is think "Peaking way too early" and decide which 8 seed is going to knock them out of the playoffs.

Sorry Chicago: these aren't the 95-96 Bulls. Chill.

Wouldn't change the facts that Raffi Torres is a thug, the Coyotes are a joke of a hockey franchise, and Phoenix is a joke of a city.
