Geeze subby I certainly appreciate your 'Monday Blues' posts but calling this the 'blues' is like calling 'The Olive Garden' authentic Italian cuisine; it might look Italian and might have the same ingredients - heck it might even taste pretty good but it's not Italian cuisine.

And this isn't the blues.

the guitar distortion doesn't work.. just sounds like shiat. though might be clipping from poor recording or improper video conversion to youtube

Too bad there's not a good video to attach, but this is one of their covers of Junior Kimbrough (one of the Black Keys big influences).

Though, might as well add the bad video with good music. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yY6iM-KbcAg

Blues is more than four minutes of one chord. And good blues involves people who can actually play their instruments somewhat competently.

Usually don't care about what people like or don't like, but this is blues.

Would you care to share these "good blues" with the group? Always looking for good music suggestions, blues or not.

In one of these threads a few months ago someone turned me on to Lightnin' Hopkins. I like him, he's cool.
Baby Please Don't Go - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d49m6G9vOrI (not my list, but it's got some good stuff in it)

I only recently discovered the Black Keys, but quickly tired to constant distortion in the music. Its just too hard to listen to after awhile.

Wow...a lot of chatter on this weeks offering but nothing last week, which I thought was going to generate a lot of conversation.

And as far as whether or not this is true blues, I think the influence is well represented in the song. While Patrick and Dan aren't a couple of 80 year old black men from the delta, this song would not have existed without some of the artists vossiewulf listed.
