Aren't we calling them "Graphic Novels" now?  Isn't this how grown men justify reading comic books?

Wow.  Those are some...strong chins on those guys.  And by strong I mean hideously deforming.

Just bad art. Well, it's not bad like Todd McFarlane bad, but it's certainly not good.

Boy wonder was a surprisingly good movie.

Good. Snot-nosed punk deserved it.

Oh for the love of-

Isn't Tim still out there doing his Red Robin schtick. Get back in gear, boy!

Stephanie is still out of the picture for some reason.

Not really. Even then, "graphic novel" was originally coined by writer Will Eisner as an alternative term to market comics differ- WAIT A MINUTE!

Back in the old days, having a kid sidekick was ok since they were never in any real harm.  Sure they might get kidnapped or roughed up a bit, but in the end, they always get rescued.  Nowadays, with the way that Batman goes thru Robins, having a kid portray him is a bit irresponsible.  I mean, would anyone really want to be responsible for a 10 year old to be fighting criminals, getting shot at, having fist fights with grown adults?  Sure you can have some really good martial arts training, but that only gets you so far against someone that is an adult.  Sure you might have some gadgets in your utility belt, but does I don't think it really makes up for the difference in age/size.

McFarlane's bad artwork now? I always thought that the was one thing he did well. Never really like his writing, but his artwork was pretty top notch, especially on Spider-Man.

I mean, it's no Rob Liefeld.

Damn thought Burt Ward was dead for a sec. I was all like "Nooo! I'm supposed to see him at C2E2."

Batman shouldn't be a father. So I'm ok with that.

This is a REPEAT from 1988.

Letting the fans vote to kill or save Jason Todd was pretty interesting, and Jim Aparo's art just can't be beat.  Plus, the cover art rocked for the 4 issue series.

Isn't Batman Inc in its own little pocket universe anyway, seperate from New 52? I thought they let Morrison keep telling his story as it was.

Seriously, I'm a long-time comics reader and DC's reshuffling/rebooting/retconning has even got me confused and frustrated.

You can't trust covers now a day. Most of the time it's just some other artist's work and has very little to do with the actual story.

Superboy Prime will just have to super-punch the fark out of reality till he comes back to life...what's so far-fetched or contrived about that?

You never could trust covers. I bet 90% of the superdickery entries have nothing to do with the plot. Of course, in the old days, "tonight someone dies" meant a main character would be threatened, then a mook would die. Or a clone or duplicate would be created then destroyed.

I'm sort of "meh" on the merits of keeping everyone's favorite homicidal little bastard this side of  Game of Thrones (plus at least Damien can be charming in a ruthless sort of way) but if this is just a stunt to sell comics that will be retconned a few years later BOOOOOO

In any case at least The Bat won't be hurting for decent back up any time soon (not even counting the Huntress, Batwing, the Question, Batwoman, Batgirl, Batmanuel etc.).

THIS. That's why I've given up on Batman comics these days: The writers and fans want them to become more violent and gorier, but they also insist that keeping a kid sidekick around still makes sense for Batman. Meh.

Well that's a relief.  From the headline I thought Burt Ward had kicked off.  I plan on meeting him and Adam West at Emerald City Comicon this weekend.

Keep your comic book news out of my Entertainment tab. That's what the Geek tab is for. Only news about comic book movies shall be allowed in the Entertainment tab and only if it's about Batman. So it is written.
