The biggest tragedy is that the drunk drivers always walk away from these things, and go on to drink and drive another day.


We need to make cars more unsafe.  Put steel spikes on non-compressing steering wheels.    Good old solid steel dashboards with only lapbelts.

it's from being unconscious prior to the accident occurring. When a person passes out their body goes slack, and the lack of awareness of a pending accident prevents their muscles from bracing for impact. Normally conscious people, even if they see it happening 1 second before it happens, adrenaline will cause muscles to lock up in order to try and brace for impact... it is that very reaction, and the locking up of muscles that causes most injuries. A person who is passed out, either because of alcohol or even sleep deprivation, has a much more flexible body and unless they experience blunt force trauma, can be whipped around pretty good before they get injured.
