Anyone that puts that much ice in a scotch deserves a cock punch.

I love good craftsmanship as much as the next guy, but if a bartender took two minutes to mess around with my ice for any drink I'd be annoyed.

Why can't they just have diamond-shaped ice cube trays?

It would be easier to use a diamond shaped mold.

As long as it's not shaved ice, that much is fine, and actually preferable.

Punch away, you'd be saving me a huge bill from my dom, Mistress Meatslappy.

No true scotch drinker would sully his highland single-malt with ice.

Do you by chance have the original of that?

It did not even look like a Diamond.

Obligatory "nice cleavage" comment.

Low surface area-to-volume ratio blocks do far less diluting for the amount of cooling they provide.  As you say, shaved or small-chip ice is a problem because it melts quickly into liquid, thus diluting the drink.

Are you folks consuming that much single-malt at Tokyo prices that a few minutes is really cramping your style?  I'll usually stretch a good whiskey (from any of several nations) out over 45 minutes or more at a bar.  I can stand a show.

That was surprisingly unimpressive.

Not a scotch drinker, but I know some ice or water actually brings out the flavor in some (all?) scotches.

That being said, while the artistry was cool to see, thats a little bit too much ice-to-drinky ratio for me.

scotch should be drunk neat or with a teaspoon of water. ice makes scotch taste terrible.

/sadly, it took many years to discover this

a drop or two of water can help. but you should never let ice anywhere near a good scotch. personally, i prefer it to be room temp.

EXACTLY!!!!!! If a bartender put that much ice in a glass and served me a drink, I'd give him a quarter.  Only reason to do that is to screw people out of the drink itself.

144p? Can someone reduce the quality of this video? The sharpness and clarity of the image is almost too jarring for me to witness, without believing that I am standing there as he chops the block of .... I want to say.. pixels?

I have lived in the U.S., Scotland, Russia, Kazakhstan, and now Thailand. What goes in my scotch is entirely climate dependent. Glasgow temperatures? Tablespoon of clean water please. 100 degrees F in the dead of winter wear I currently live? Small cube'll do thank you very much.

came to suggest a plastic mold - leaving satisfied

Neat skill I suppose, but? Nothing to write home about
