Yeah, as a bit of a map nerd, I approve.

Damned impressive! I always love "different center point" maps.

/also don't think #20 is fair to Washington State since I'm pretty sure they just typed "Washington"

#30 is incorrect. Kuwait uses the same power plug as England.

I've suggested number 8 in order to rebalance the power of the house and senate on a population represented basis. It was warmly greeted until I suggested merging New Hampshire and Vermont, just off the cuff. Then a person who had perked up at my idea turned icy cold. As I now understand it, New Hampshire and Vermont people are already on the verge of armed conflict.

I love that #14 "Square and Stationary Earth" map. It's like TimeCube's great-grandfather.

Think Weekend Libertarians in Barn Jackets vs Sanctimonious Hippy Dippies and you've got the basic dichotomy.

I was coming in to complain about a map of Númenor ere its destruction, but I've always known that one was needed.

Maybe I am just an idiot, but the maps about the seven deadly sins make no sense to me. I need more information about how they obtained their data and exactly what the quantity is that they are measuring. Or can someone explain them to me? I am not sure what they are considering the baseline marker for each sin, so their measurements of "Std. Dev", which I presume to mean Standard Deviation, doesn't help me any.

I just liked the autocomplete map, solely for the "is better than Wisconsin."  The only state in the country with a clear inferiority complex.

Came here to mention that as well. Google for "oregon is" autocompletes in Google as "oregon islands".

So, to dig a hole to China, I'll need to start in Argentina or Peru? No wonder that never worked when I was a kid.

Plus digging holes is hard work.

I like how the greatest concentrations of sin are smack dab in the Bible Belt.

Those were neat, but I'm not sure if the new geographical feature on the land-sea swap map are supposed to represent something.  I wanna say that the deepest parts of the old oceans correspond to the highest parts of the new land (shallow seas appear to be low grasslands, and abyssal plains seem to be mountain massifs), but there's nothing corresponding to the mid-ocean ridges.  It does kinda look like there's a mid-ocean ridge where the Rockies are, though.

/anal-retentive pedantry aside, those were indeed neat
//wanted to emphasise that so I don't look like a nitpicking killjoy

gadian: I like the inverted land / water one and got a real laugh out of the Mario Bros. one.

I don't get the "inversion" of land and water- did they just replace the land with water and vice versa? That's not really inversion- I was looking for super deep trenches north of India and didn't see any, but they're apparently there in western South America.

HotWingAgenda: I just liked the autocomplete map, solely for the "is better than Wisconsin."  The only state in the country with a clear inferiority complex.

Missouri is apparently the worst state. Who knew? I would have guessed one of the Dakotas, Alabama, or Arkansas.

HotWingAgenda : When type in "Oregon is " the top suggestions are "Oregon is the what state", "Oregon is faster" and "Oregon is in what time zone".

Anytime you see something referencing what google autocomplete returns, simply ignore it as the BS it is.

Google autocomplete is

1) Based on what a user searched for.

2) Even if the user disables cookies and logs out of their google account, I believe it still does regional results based on the IP address.

So it can differ from person to person.

"Oregon Ducks
Oregon Football
Oregon
Oregon State
Oregon Trail
Oregon University
Oregon Football Schedule
Oregon Mall Shooting
Oregon Trail Game"

// I don't even like football, but it must be a popular grouping in my area.

Well, that and the mountains on the "land" don't seem to actually follow the mountain ranges of the mid-ocean ridges.

Seth'n'Spectrum: Why is Opera the most popular web browser in Belarus? The mouse commands?

From what I remember, I think its their infrastructure.  Their telecom system is so dated its easier to use a mobile phone/device to get online. Therefore, Opera Mobile.

I've been using Opera for years in the US.  The mouse gestures are an awesome feature, and they had them first, though others have caught up there.  Sloppily coded sites that render Opera incompatible are a pain, which I why I keep Chrome installed as a backup, but Opera is moving to the webkit rendering engine used by Chrome and Firefox for the next major revision, so that will take care of that.

OOps, I just typed "Oregon" not "Oregon is", I was quoting someone and thought I just ran into a patch of bad English.

for "Oregon is" I get

Oregon Islands
Oregon is the what state
Oregon is faster
Oregon islands national wildlife refuge
Oregon is in what time zone
Oregon is known for
Oregon is overrated
Oregon islands for sale
Oregon is faster shirt
Oregon issues

// is faster shirt?

The real depressing thing is that the map probably cost the taxpayer a couple of hundred million bucks.
