YouPeopleAreCrazy: isupportcopkillers: This is why NY is considered the arsehole state. Only a a certain type of group goes in and only shiat comes out. I have yet to see anyone or anything that was worthwhile come from NY.

NY is really two states. NYC and immediate surroundings, and the other 99.5%, called NotNYC. Completely different mindsets. NotNYC can be pretty rational at times.

Very much this^^^^^

I am happy I live on Long Island. I could never live in NYC. Too crowded, too noisy, too expensive.
And then throw in the nonsense like this crap Bloomie is pulling.

As soon as I hit retiring time I will RUN, not walk away from here to somewhere no snow falls and I can go with 2 seasons max of clothing.
Seriously tired of winters. Not that I can't deal with them, but why should I if I don't want to?

This is FARK. There are no reasonable people in here.

I just assume that anyone who spends more than a few minutes "debating" or typing unsolicited advice on FARK is either drunk or mentally ill.

You're already acting like one.   Your "need" for junk food is trumped by the fact that it's a big reason why our health care costs are so high in this country.  And you're clearly not seeing that.

fark individual freedoms! Any action that doesn't benefit the collective most be purged! Proletarii vskh stan, soyedinyaytes!

Thanks for proving my point. :)

Really, we should just shoot... scratch that the police (Wouldn't want the citizens getting any ideas about material ownership) should shoot the overweight, the lame, the mentally deficient, and anyone who isn't contributing 100% to society. Anyone that disagrees OBVIOUSLY hates society as a whole.

Or we could just not deliver huge bottles of liquid sodium and corn syrup to them. It's kind of a compromise because we'll still deliver as many small bottles of liquid sodium and corn syrup as you please.

So is that what a compromise is? Take and then give nothing in return? How utterly generous of you.

Yep, New York City is throwing people in jail left-and-right at the whims of fascist Mayor Mike. That's why the number of incarcerated people has gone down by a third since 2001 while the national average has gone up.   All of this while having the crime rate in NYC going down by a third as well in the same time period.

Meh, its NY who cares really. They wanted a nanny and they have it, why else would they keep reelecting this tool. "Help me help me government i need your guidance on what to eat, drink, and (soon) wear"

This is why NY is considered the arsehole state. Only a a certain type of group goes in and only shiat comes out. I have yet to see anyone or anything that was worthwhile come from NY.

I didn't want Bloomberg.  I never did.

I also didn't want any of the council members who so graciously held a non public meeting/vote to allow him to run for a third term, against the will of about 90% of NY'ers.

Third world politics right there.

Nothing has been taken. You can buy as much soda as you want. You just can't have it delivered in bottles over a certain size. It's one of those laws meant to look like somebody has done something while the status quo remains squarely.

By the way some people are reacting you'd think soda was habit forming.

I never said that the rate of incarcerations were higher than the national average, just that NYS is such a poor place for businesses that the prison industry is one of the few having any growth. Hell, even NYC is $110 billion in debt

They thought it was so invasive that they would need a Constitutional Amendment to authorize it. . .then when it was clear that nobody was paying any attention to the law anyway, they worked to repeal it.

So, they thought they could tell people what to eat or drink. . .if they amended the Constitution specifically to approve it, and then they thought it was a very bad idea in retrospect.

This isn't about soda or anything like that. It's about supporting, albeit indirectly, people in power who are slowly managing to successfully nanny-manage their own constituents. I don't like the idea of touring my own money into these douchebag politician's taxhole pockets.

That deal with Quomo, and his method of "legislating" gun control measures, pretty much sealed my opinion about visiting that state (based on aforementioned principals).

I live in a dry town. Not only can you not deliver beer with pizza, you can't serve any booze at any of our many renowned restaurants, or even sell it from a store. If you want a shot of Jack or a bottle of Chianti, you may have to travel as far as a one mile to reach the next town over. It's totally not the worst thing ever.
