neversummer: I'm in NY next month for a while. I've already got at stack of 60oz big gulps and lids I'm taking.

You're livin' on the edge!

Brick-House: What gives this blooming idiot the authority to do this?

Since when is that important?  Elections have consequences.

JasonOfOrillia: But I can still eat the whole pizza myself?

I see a revitalization of the Law & Order franchise somewhere in this.

mikefitz: This is what you big city liberals want for your disgusting cesspool that is NYC, you're getting exactly what you want.

Meh, its NY who cares really. They wanted a nanny and they have it, why else would they keep reelecting this tool. "Help me help me government i need your guidance on what to eat, drink, and (soon) wear"

This is why NY is considered the arsehole state. Only a a certain type of group goes in and only shiat comes out. I have yet to see anyone or anything that was worthwhile come from NY.

Duke_leto_Atredes: Let it all burn, Fark them all.  As you vote so shall you reap.

//maybe we can sell it back to the Indians.

Hey NYC, you get what you vote for.

Same applies to the nation, since both major parties have turned nanny.

Don't know if any of the other choices were any better.
But, they elected him, twice (he wants a change of law for 3rd), so they got what they asked for.

Tim Tebow: You know, for awhile shortly after 9/11, I really liked this Bloomberg fella. But recently it seems he's gone off the deep end.

Not to mention that 12 years after this harrowing, earth shaking even that would change America FOR EVER!, it's nothing more than a T-shirt, a couple of tattered slogans and a Third Reich style collection of alphabet soup agencies and our fearless leaders have concentrated on regulating soda pop.  It's almost as if it was just a huge hijack and now that they've given the keys to the treasury to elitist swine while we his under our beds, that they've run out of useful sh*t to do and they're just trolling.

Really? Former Republican now Independent Bloomberg is progressive? News to me.

You forgot one step. He was a lifelong Democrat up till his first election. He switched parties so he could run unopposed in the primary. Otherwise he would have not made it through the primary.

Bloomberg has always been progressive.

Bloomberg is also spending millions in Illinois to influence a congressional election. So he isn't limiting himself to just NYC.

I hate those pitchers of soda... First, the ice just blocks the spout, so nothing comes out. Second, by the time you get any in your glass, it's flat anyway.

HarleyMarlboro: I understand why he's banning Big Gulps, since those are intended to be one serving.  (I don't agree, but I understand)

I don't understand this.  A 2 liter has a little over 8 servings.  What's next, no one can buy more than one 16oz bottle at a time, because they might drink more than one?

Yes

Captain Couscous: L.D. Ablo: Yet another reason why Los Angeles is better.

No it's not. Horsemeat and foie gras are banned in California.

Actually, slaughtering horses for human consumption is illegal in all 50 states, which is why horses are shipped to Canada (I think) or Mexico (I know). Also, we didn't exactly ban foie gras itself. Force feeding birds to produce it is banned, as is selling anything produced from the force feeding of birds. To get around the ban, the restaurants that still serve it no longer sell it. They simply jacked up the price of the accompaniments and the seared foie gras is "complimentary".

Mrbogey: Real Women Drink Akvavit: I always thought some of the more interesting taco trucks put LA on top. Where else can you get Korean-Thai-Mexican-Mediterranean fusion tacos while standing in a dark alley at 10:00 pm other than Los Angeles?

Can you buy an alcoholic mixed drink through a drive-thru there?

Not the good mixed drinks. Some of the drive thru dairies had those cheapo premixed things. Considering the drive thru dairies tended to be located in less than "high end" neighborhoods, those probably sold better than a premium mixed drink ever could. I bet Night Train or maybe MD 20/20 still was the top seller, though.

This, plus Quomo's way of passing laws regarding things he hates people having, are a couple major reasons why I'll never willingly step foot into New York for any reason aside from flight layovers (sometimes you just can't help that).

I've always dreamed of visiting Time Square and touring NYC at least once. However, having to deal with crap like this? Fark that place and fark the people who voted in and tolerate this shiat.

NY is really two states. NYC and immediate surroundings, and the other 99.5%, called NotNYC. Completely different mindsets. NotNYC can be pretty rational at times.

whizbangthedirtfarmer: Meh, I can't imagine that folks would want to pay out the arse for a 2-liter with soda anyway.  Here, they charge something like 3 or 4 bucks; I can walk down the street and get a 2-liter at the grocery store for 1.25.

I sometimes order a 2 liter with a pizza.  We don't keep soda in the house most of the time, so it's handy.

I could also go to the store and get/make a pizza.  Don't pretend like this is hard to understand.

Assault beverage ban? My soda gun needs a bigger magazine!

Let's take a look at Who mad about the soda?

Tea party, Republicans, southerners and mid-westerners mad because it's liberal yankee Jew York City Mayor Goldberg stepping on their freedoms from value-priced high-fructose corn syrup-induced 'diabeetus'. But it's 'okay' because they are all 'Christians' and love Israel.

Libertarians mad because 'nanny state' regulates soda but the pot-smoking members on the RON PAUL! Tour Bus of Love still can't score some good Cali bud and the right-leaning libertarians are actually just REALLY pissed-off Randian conservatives that think as long as we get back on the gold standard and remain self-centered middle age white men that the poors can't afford any gawdamned soda-pop in the first gawdamned place! Second Amendment! Ron/Rand Paul! Thanks Obama!

Fat farks mad because everybody knows the 64 oz. Big Gulp size is clearly the greatest value for heart disease, stretch pants, a handicapped parking space and the Scooter Store.

Copy and paste for every political thread that contains the words 'nanny state', 'regulation', or 'Fartbongo' in the headline.

You know the NYPD is busy trying to deploy machines that would let them do TSA-type scans of people just walking along the street, right?

Elect a fascist, get fascist policies.

(And a bedbug epidemic, because the health department is busy enforcing the Leader's priorities.)

HideAndGoFarkYourself: How is this not restricting free trade?  I fail to see how these things he's doing aren't being challenged in court.  I feel like a class action lawsuit against him/them would result in him biatch slapped.

Are you joking me? Clearly it has been established that the government can restrict "free trade". Think guns, tobacco, alcohol.

Plus spraypaint, prescription drugs, non-prescription drugs that could be abused or used to make meth.

Then think about non-USDA beef, "dietary supplements" making a medical claim, lead tainted children's toys, a car seat that hasn't passed safety inspection.

The government restricts of ton of things that can be *sold* and they are not all things that are super toxic/addictive like cigarettes. Arguably at this time more people are getting sick and dying from trans fat and sugary drinks than cigarettes so I don't see how this ban is a stretch.

That said, if I was the one deciding, I would vote against this ban.

What's stupid is that 7-11 is exempt because it's not a restaurant as dictated by the Health Department so those 64-oz Big Gulps are legit. Starbucks and Dunkin Donuts are also exempt because many of their drinks have dairy which is okay. Dunkin already sells soft drinks in bottles.
Movie theaters and sports stadiums are included in the ban. No large soft drinks while watching basketball or hockey at Madison Square Gardens. No worries, you're drinking beer anyways.

We had one of those a few blocks from where I grew up in Simi Valley, and I highly doubt that Night Train or MD 20/20 were big sellers.

Of course at that point in history most people from Simi had never seen a black man yet except on TV, the Rodney King trial wouldn't be held until a few years later

So, are you actually bringing something to this discussion or are you just going to shiat out a few strawmen and stereotypes?

Just because your "ideological oppenents" are against this does not excuse the fact that this is a terrible, overreaching law that needs to be stopped and that Bloomberg is still and will forever be a massive condenscending, nannying Masshole.

Fine with me.
