When AU had their false alarm in ~2008 (nerf stuff, Humans Vs. Zombies game), someone I knew was a secretary there at the time, and she had a security guy charge into the room, gun drawn, looking for the 'shooter'. She said it was absolutely terrifying. From what she described of that and just general panic by the professors, it sounded to me like they didn't have a very good tactical plan in place. Maybe MIT has a similar problem but with emphasis on lack of tactical...

I like my school's plan; when the alert goes out, barricade the door, and if the guy gets in, a select group is to pile on and attempt to take his gun in order to protect the rest of the students... though hopefully I'll never see this implemented.

That better than my school's plan. They essentially told us to drop everything and run away, every man for himself.

It is better to be a moving target than a stationary one no matter which side is shooting.

I rather be a well-protected target. Moving is what you do when you don't have cover.

ZAZ: John DiFava, MIT's campus police chief

DiFava used to run the Massachusetts State Police before taking a lower stress job in 2001.

Does he make dispatch call him in Car Ramrod?
