Just because you get old doesn't mean you have to get decrepit. If you stay in reasonably good shape and socially active throughout your life, you're quite likely to be happy and able to live well right up until you die. If you sit around, alone, and let your body decay, then yes you'll likely slowly slip into senility while your body spends 20 years slowly falling to pieces. Your choice...
