It's not rocket science..but, very important.

quickdraw: puppetmaster745: quickdraw: puppetmaster745: Damn, that sounds like a lot of electricity for a few plants. How much smokeable bud can you get from a single plant?

Thats entirely up to the genetics of the plant you are growing and what your set up is. The variety of methods and techniques is staggering. However the electric costs have gone down considerably with the new lights.

I mean are we talking 1-3 oz? Less? More? Are 3 good pot plants flowering at the same time enough to support a moderate smoking habit?

An oz per plant would be pushing it and you could get much less depending on conditions. I cannot stress how much of a gamble it is especially at the start. And I have no idea what you consider to be a moderate habit. All the same if you are interested and can do so without possible negative consequences then I would encourage you to try it. Just start small.

Really the most important consideration is not your lights or harvest - it's your neighbors. I cannot stress this enough.

Don't grow unless you can find a way to do so undetected by people walking by. Its no fun to wake up to guns in your face.

Thanks for the feedback. I live in Ga, so it will probably be a long, long time before I could grow legally. I don't smoke pot anymore... I stopped in my mid 20's because it started giving me panic attacks. I would grow for loved ones for medical reasons if it was legal. I have seen it in action for chronic pain and it works wonders.

In the meantime, I'll just keep making wine and growing my garden.

quickdraw: It's a lot cheaper and less stressful to make dumb mistakes on zucchini and tomatoes.

There are things you can do to make zucchini not grow?

Uh, I thought it was called "weed" because it grew like a weed. As in they have eradication programs to clear it out of highway ditches.

Who doesn't know some stoner that would put his seeds in public flower pots to see how quickly someone would notice?

Or do the special high-potency breeds need babied?

OK, have not grown since the early 90s and probably never will again.
But I have grown some indica sinsemilla with beautiful spiral staircase central colas that glisten with a thousand points of light--good, sticky bud for a smooth and potent pleasant smoke.  I would not bother with growing crappy weed, I hate the leaves and seeds.  I like only the female flowered bud--everything else is headache and cough inducing crap.
Interesting to hear that the lights used now do not give off a lot of heat.  Controlling the temps was one of my problems.  Also staying the hell out of it until it was done.
I loved my big grow room.  I had the most gorgeous houseplants in there along with the weed.  Grew kickass catnip too.

i heard about friends of friends that get ~3oz per plant, but that's with thousands of dollars of hydro equipment.

ReverendJynxed: This was a report paid for by the dealers/retailers.

Yeah, I'm sure they approached the paper and not the other way around.

Easy peasy:

75 to 150W HPS light from home depot
Cheap recirculating fan to keep plants strong
planting mix equal parts potting soil, perlite, vermiculite.
A little organic fertilizer
24 hour light timer.

All ya need.  12 on 12 off lighting.

4 to 6 months.

It's a weed people, it will grow wildly if you let it.

ReverendJynxed: Ambivalence: God damn that sounds complicated. $1000 in equipment and special feeding schedules.  And CO2? What the fark man?

This was a report paid for by the dealers/retailers. You can literally grow it in toothpaste, in your drain, in your bathroom. I've done it. They just want it to appear difficult so they can keep the market share.

The extra equipment and crap is only to get the largest yield but if you aren't selling it the waste cost of lights isn't worth it. Grow it outside in natural light and let the weed do what it does best.

Said like a true brick weed smoker.

SpdrJay: Sounds like the people in CO are doing better with their legalization than us in WA. I'm still reading of pot and paraphernalia arrests in the local paper.

it was already decriminalized on the municipal level in a few cities in CO, Denver and boulder being the biggest. The new amendment just applied that statewide.

It has been said before and can not be stressed enough.  It isn't that hard to grow decent home grown.  You can go nuts and try to go gourmet, just like anything else.

The hugest, most significant difference is - you have to keep your mouth shut.  even IF it were to be totally completely legal tomorrow morning (wow, wouldn't I like to wake up to that!), there are many people out there who would still think nothing of depriving you of your hard work.  Shut your trap and cap that smell.  That wonderful, delightful, delicious smell.

/And yes, bud enthusiasts make foodies seem like micky d dumpster divers.

2013-02-23 11:43:48 PM

puppetmaster745: Shouldn't it be legalized because it's one of our goddamn rights as a human being to ingest a plant if we farking feel like it?

Yes, it should be.  But unfortunately we don't live in Should-land.  People have been trying for decades and that particular argument has gone nowhere with the general population.  But now budgets are tight almost everywhere, and people see an opportunity to speak to people on a level that they will actually listen to and won't just dismiss out of hand as some hippie B.S. - Money.

/ Ahh Shouldland, where clean-cut kids cruise the boulevard and the Shoudland High football team gets their optimistic asses kicked by their cross town rival, Reality Check Tech.

This article writer doesn't have a clue and is parroting crap from cannabis forums that simply isn't true.

Indica only getting 2-3 feet tall? sheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeit. Only if you give it a month of veg before flowering, starting from clone.

Bronzemom: Those lights are going to make that closet too hot for the plants and the lights have to be on almost 24 hours a day at first (24 the first week, 23 the next, 22 the following) until you are down to about 14 hours of light a day at which time vegetative growing ends and blooming begins

What? Anybody using 24-hour light is foolish. Plants need a dark cycle. They need one LONGER than 4 hours. Blooming begins at roughly 12/12 (unless you're using something crossed with Ruderalis for auto-flowering regardless the light cycle.) Best is 16-18 hours of light (I prefer 16.) Also, ever hear of LED? Yea. I don't have to deal with heat.

quickdraw: If its just a couple plants for personal then you will never see the gains from the CO2.

You won't see the gains from CO2 under any circumstance until you up your temperatures to force greater respiration rates. Otherwise, atmospheric concentration is just fine because other things are limiting the rate of material intake and photosynthesis.

NameDot: Chasing the elusive one gram per watt

Which does not exist, as one solid watt of power wouldn't even produce a gram of material E=MC^2 and all that.

Now, a gram per kilowatt-hour, that can exist.

The lamp has nothing to do with the figure. It's purely Energy Consumed divided by Yield.

/hates it when idiots rate harvest by hourly lamp consumption figures when they don't even have a clue.

No calls for a Spliffy tag?

Fark, I am disappoint.

But I was just thinking about pot in Colorado today especially since I smoked the last gram of pot I had last night and I live in Colorado.

DNRTFA since the link is farked right now, but I was wondering. It's been nearly 4 farking months since we legalized the shiat - where can I buy some farking pot?

I know, I can just go to the usual places where I did before it was legalized, but seriously, where can I buy some farking pot in a retail setting that's as close and convenient as a liquor store?

The CO legislature is all over gun control, but the voters of Colorado said "LET US BUY POT EVEN IF WE DON'T HAVE A MEDICAL NEED!"

All I've heard is that they decided that people from out of state can buy it........If and when they ever figure out how people who actually live in Colorado can buy it.

I think I also heard Weld County said "Hell no!" which isn't surprising. Thank gawd I don't live in Weld County. I've been stoned and in Weld County before. I was glad to get out of there. Weld County can fark itself.

This is a farked up state. Did you know that the local NBC affiliate has a weathergirl named Amelia Earhart?

Really? I'm supposed to believe that's her real name? Bullshiat. I'm not buying it. She's easy on the eyes, but come on - come up with a believable name at least.

Sometimes I think CO should have its own tag too, but if we set the bar too low it wouldn't be long until we started asking which states didn't have their own tag.
Colorado is both the best state and also the worst state in this country.

I'd like to try that. How much do you dry out the semen before you smoke it?

Happy Hours: Dude, have you ever masturbated on weed?

and then you smoke it?

The stuff can't be that hard to grow; it comes up wild all over Kentucky. My grandfather grew his own back in the 70s-80s and his "garden" area still pops up seedlings every now and again. It's a weed, it doesn't need that much babying.

2013-02-24 08:38:33 PM
after you cum you don't wanna smoke pot.  that's why i mentioned it
