Donorcyles.  I hope this guy left some usable parts on his way out, so there's some good that can come of all this...

Driving into the path of stupid kids knowing you will kill them? That gets you a promotion and two Fark trolls.

unlikely: I'm probably among the more stupid speed junkies on Fark, I like topping a buck on the bike, but damn dude with a passenger... that's just stupid.

Wonder if he was wearing a helmet...

FTFA: Williamson's Suzuki hit the back of the cruiser...

Nope, typical Gixxer-squid.  If he had a helmet, it was strapped to the backseat area with his girlfriend's helmet.  And he was probably wearing cargo shorts and flip flops or shoes with no socks.  And a wife beater.

Because of their penis.

Tom_Slick: ZzeusS: unlikely: He was doing 125 with a passenger?

Yes.  These farkwits do this shiat all the time in South FL.  Sorry the kid lost his live, but at least the girl will live.

I see this shiat ALL the time.  Wheelies at 80 mph, also.  Lane splitting while speeding.  shiat you would expect to see in a movie and never IRL because it's so dumb and suicidal.

Happens all the time in Atlanta as well and we drive fast around here, it is not unusual to be going 85-90 mph on the downtown connector and be passed like you are standing still by some idiot on a sport bike.

You are going to have squidyies everywhere, even in Austin.  This kid new the risk and if he didnt then farkim even more.  Dont like the risk, dont play the game.  For once I dont blame the cop, this is rare.

2013-02-23 02:40:12 PM
So, the motorcyclists was speeding, refused to pull over, the cop gave up the chase and the motorcyclist slammed into a slow moving/parked police car further downt he road and died?

Bwahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha h ahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahah ahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahah ahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahah ahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahah ahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahah ahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahah ahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahah ahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahah ahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahah ahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahah ahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahah ahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahah ahahahahahahahahaha!

This is the bridge in question.

Nope, that's the Howard Franklin Bridge, part of I-275. The road in question is north of that bridge. The causeway has two much shorter bridges allowing water flow between Old Tampa Bay and the rest of Tampa Bay.

Here's a shot of CCC looking toward the west from the Tampa side.

I'm glad, there's one less ignorant coont in the world. I wonder if his girlfriend was begging him to stop or slow down before he nearly killed her too?

2013-02-23 02:41:47 PM
If you're doing 125 MPH and approaching a car doing 65 MPH, it's like coming upon a stationary object in the road while you're doing 60 MPH.

Friend of mine talked about doing 100+ MPH on a bike and coming up on traffic. Said it was quite a scary and enlightening experience. He still rides, but a bigger cruiser, not a racing bike.

They don't call them donorcycles for nothing.

2013-02-23 02:42:32 PM
I lived in Orlando for many years and if there is one thing I learned its that the only thing dumber than a 21 year old on a motorcycle is 4 of them riding together.  Sometimes I'm amazed that I never saw someone die on I-4, especially around bike week.

2013-02-23 02:43:03 PM
Something some of you don't seem to comprehend.. cops end CHASES if they are unable to detain the suspect after a certain amount of time or distance, NO WHERE does this mean they cannot setup a road block! NO WHERE! Even if the cop setup a legit road block it would not be illegal.. the driver lost control and could not stop for the road block and THAT was the reason for the accident.

St_Francis_P: If by "ramming", you mean "sat there and got hit":

Trooper Dawayne Maddux, 32, was parked in the bridge's inside lane near a construction zone with his vehicle's emergency lights on but was "moving to the outside lane" when his cruiser was struck by the motorcycle, the FHP said.

Williamson's Suzuki hit the back of the cruiser, and he and 24-year-old passenger Jenna Elizabeth Scott were thrown from the motorcycle, according to the FHP. Troopers are investigating.

Listen, dick. We can't be cop haters 100% of the time unless the media stretches the truth from time to time.

I read that like the cop was hiding in a construction site, knew he was coming and pulled out in front of him to stop his progress. Intentional and hardly just sitting there.

Is say do an investigation and at least see if it can be verified the cop did in fact have his lights on. Speeding shouldn't be a death sentence.

So what if he did or didn't?  The motorcycle hit him, not the other way around.  It was going 125.  If you don't think being an idiot should be a death sentience talk to Darwin.

The moron killed himself.

The cop intentionally pulled out in front of him. That is who was intentional. It wasn't negligence on the rider.

What the cop did was wrong. I'd gamble his lights weren't on either.

So, when someone breaks the law the police should just stand idly by and do nothing?

What the cop did was right.  And I would gamble that his lights were on.  The only negligence here was the idiot motorcycle rider who thought he was above the law.

2013-02-23 02:47:15 PM
I really doubt the cop in the car deliberately cut off the motorcyclist, if for no other reason than self-preservation. Getting creamed by a motorcycle going 125 mph is absolutely going to total your car and has a significant chance of injuring anyone inside. My guess is that the cop did deliberately move to block, but either was going by radio and didn't look behind himself first (or just didn't see the motorcycle coming) or he thought he was giving the guy enough time to stop but wasn't.

Cut of jib...newsletter...etc.  You get the drift.

why is everyone assuming the motorcycle was going 125 when it hit the cruiser? the article only says that the chase reached 125mph at one point. It's possible he was going much slower near the end. Of course you can't tell one way or another from the article.

FTA: "A group of motorcycles was traveling more than twice the speed limit..."

"The 26-year-old didn't stop."

As someone who just bought a bike, I'm getting a kick, etc. That's the kind of asshole that gives other riders a bad reputation. I'm having trouble drumming up any sympathy whatsoever, except for the passenger who thankfully survived the moron-a-thon.

Darwin wins and there's one less idiot rider tearing around.

2013-02-23 02:52:37 PM

dahmers love zombie: So:
Bikers speeding on bridge.
Cop begins pursuit but stops when it's clear that he can't overtake, and public safety is at issue.
Bikers ram into another cop car at end of bridge.  Darwin claims driver as prize.

Um...I'm not seeing any problem here.  It's not like FHP tried to PIT them at 125.

That's how I'm reading this too.  If there's any reason that the cops are in the wrong here (and I have no love for the police!), I'd love to know what it is.

2013-02-23 02:53:26 PM
The cops caused this incident by hypnotizing the cyclist into driving 125mph into a car they purposefully put in his path.

Because they're evil and like stuff like that.

Why does anyone "need" a sportscar, bungee jumping equipment, mountain climbing gear, 72in television, etc....  I don't own any of these things but I can see why someone would.  Of course in the case of the car or the bike, one shouldn't be going those speeds unless they are on a track designed for that sort of thing.

TommyymmoT: JoeCowboy: Mr. Coffee Nerves: It's amazing that the passenger survived.

She had a 170 - 180 lb sack of jello that broke her fall.

My thoughts exactly. A human airbag.

And a meat skid plate. Hopefully she was asphalt surfing on his back for most of the trip.  Road rash at 125 will go all the way to the bone and farther.

This is the second comment I've seen about "At that speed, he's pretty much dead anyway" which is completely false.  You can wipeout on a bike at 125mph and get up and walk away.  However, you do need to be wearing the proper gear, and you also need to have plenty of sliding room.

Yeppers, I have been strolling downtown on Peachtree St. before and have witnessed groups of 18 or so speeding (no where near 125, however), lane splitting, wheelies, etc. It was actually more terrifying for pedestrians than anybody else. We jaywalk a lot, ya know.

Except that those bikes are going no where near 125 mph on those turns.

Also. let's remember that this was one side of the story.  Could be true, or the cop swerved over the line and hit him.  They should release these stories when all the evidence has come out.  There should be video of said chase. correct?

Trooper Dawayne Maddux, 32, was parked in the bridge's inside lane near a construction zone with his vehicle's emergency lights on but was "moving to the outside lane" when his cruiser was struck by the motorcycle, the FHP said.

Sounds as if the cop hit him.  He was "parked" in the inside lane and changed lanes...  Who it who?  Who turned the screw?
